When to Enjoy

California Navel oranges are at their sweet and juicy best in March and April.



  • Your oranges will stay fresh longer in the refrigerator, but most will last for four or more days at room temperature.
  • California Navels are the ideal oranges for eating out of hand. Kids love "orange smiles"; simply cut the orange in half crosswise, then cut three or four wedges from each half.
  • Use up every bit! The zest adds great flavor to many dishes. Run some peels through your garbage disposal to freshen it up.

A single California Navel orange provides more than 100% of the recommended daily value of vitamin C, and is also an excellent source of fiber. A medium (5.5 oz) orange provides just 80 calories, and the following:
