Chocolate-Covered Cabernet

Ingredients

  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup milk chocolate morsels
  • 1 tablespoon dark cocoa powder
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • Pinch of kosher salt
  • 2 cups cabernet sauvignon (or other full-bodied red wine)
  • 4 tablespoons marshmallow topping
  • 4 tablespoons peppermint pieces (optional for garnish)

Steps

    1. Combine in large saucepan: milk, chocolate morsels, cocoa powder, cinnamon stick, and salt. Heat on low 7–8 minutes, stirring continuously, until milk starts to steam but not simmer.
    2. Add wine; continue to cook and stir 10 minutes.
    3. Remove from heat. Ladle mixture evenly into 4 coffee mugs; top each with 1 tablespoon marshmallow topping and peppermint pieces, if desired.

Other Preparation Methods

    Make it more indulgent.
    Use dark chocolate morsels in place of milk chocolate and add ½ oz crème de menthe to amp up the peppermint flavor.
