Ingredients
- 3 cups whole milk
- 1 cup milk chocolate morsels
- 1 tablespoon dark cocoa powder
- 1 cinnamon stick
- Pinch of kosher salt
- 2 cups cabernet sauvignon (or other full-bodied red wine)
- 4 tablespoons marshmallow topping
- 4 tablespoons peppermint pieces (optional for garnish)
Steps
- Combine in large saucepan: milk, chocolate morsels, cocoa powder, cinnamon stick, and salt. Heat on low 7–8 minutes, stirring continuously, until milk starts to steam but not simmer.
- Add wine; continue to cook and stir 10 minutes.
- Remove from heat. Ladle mixture evenly into 4 coffee mugs; top each with 1 tablespoon marshmallow topping and peppermint pieces, if desired.
Other Preparation Methods
Use dark chocolate morsels in place of milk chocolate and add ½ oz crème de menthe to amp up the peppermint flavor.
