Ingredients

  • 1-inch piece fresh ginger
  • 1 gallon apple cider
  • 1 (15 oz) can pumpkin puree
  • ½ cup maple syrup
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground cloves
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground allspice
  • 2 small sweet (or tart) apples

    1. Peel and slice ginger; place in 6-quart slow cooker (or heavy-bottomed pot). Whisk in cider, pumpkin, maple syrup, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and allspice.
    2. Cover and cook on HIGH 1–2 hours (or LOW 2-3 hours), until hot and flavors have blended (if using pot, simmer 30–45 minutes, stirring occasionally). Meanwhile, slice apples and orange. Serve hot, garnished with apple and orange slices.
