Traditional Grilled Cheese

Ingredients

  • 8 slices Publix Bakery White Mountain bread
  • 8 tablespoons mayonnaise (or softened, unsalted butter)
  • Parchment paper
  • 4 thin slices yellow American cheese
  • 8 slices cooked bacon (or ham), optional
  • 4 thin slices yellow cheddar cheese
  • 4 thin slices Havarti (or fontina) cheese

Steps

    1. Spread 1 tablespoon mayonnaise on 1 side of each bread slice, then place mayonnaise-side down on parchment paper.
    2. Place 1 slice American cheese and 2 slices bacon on 4 slices of bread. Place 1 slice cheddar cheese and 1 slice Havarti cheese on remaining 4 slices of bread. Close sandwich (mayonnaise-side out).
    3. Preheat large, nonstick sauté pan on medium 2–3 minutes. Place sandwiches in pan, mayonnaise-side down, and cook 1–2 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cheese has melted. Serve.
