Ingredients

  • 1 lb pork belly slices
  • ¼ cup orange marmalade
  • ½ cup unsalted chicken stock (or broth)
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
  • 1 cup Deli coleslaw
  • 8 Deli Hawaiian dinner rolls

Steps

    1. Preheat large, nonstick sauté pan on medium 2–3 minutes. Add pork belly to pan; cook 7–8 minutes, turning often, until brown and crispy. Drain fat from pan.
    2. Reduce heat to low. Stir in marmalade, stock, salt, and five-spice powder; simmer 7–8 minutes until pork is well coated and 145°F. Divide pork evenly among bottom halves of rolls; top with coleslaw and top halves of rolls.
Other Preparation Methods
    • Fry: Preheat large sauté pan on medium-high 2–3 minutes. Place ¼ cup oil in pan; brush 1 lb pork belly with ¼ cup corn syrup, then dredge in flour (wash hands). Add pork to pan; cook 2–3 minutes on each side until crisp, golden, and 145°F. Sprinkle with 1 teaspoon sazón seasoning.
    • Sauté: Preheat large sauté pan on medium 2–3 minutes; cut 1 lb pork belly into thin strips (wash hands). Place pork belly in pan; cook 6–8 minutes until crisp, then drain fat. Stir in ⅛ teaspoon ground red pepper, 2 tablespoons honey, and ½ teaspoon salt; cook and stir 2 more minutes or until sticky and pork is 145°F.
