Ingredients

  • 1 (14-oz) package firm tofu
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 green onion
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon red chili paste
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • ½ cup water
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds

Steps

    1. Drain tofu and cut into ½-inch slices; pat dry with paper towels. Mince garlic (if needed); slice green onion.
    2. Combine in medium bowl: soy sauce, sugar, chili paste, sesame oil, and water until blended; set aside.
    3. Heat vegetable oil in large nonstick sauté pan on medium for 2–3 minutes. Add tofu and fry until browned on both sides.
    4. Stir in soy sauce mixture to pan and reduce heat to medium-low. Turn tofu to coat in sauce, and simmer until sauce is heated through. Serve tofu with sauce; garnish with sesame seeds.
