Ingredients

  • Parchment paper
  • Cooking spray
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar bourbon (or mesquite) seasoning
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ teaspoon liquid smoke
  • 1 ½ cups roasted whole cashews
  • 1 ½ cups pecan halves

Steps

    1. Preheat oven to 300°F. Line baking sheet with parchment, then coat parchment with spray. Combine brown sugar and seasoning until blended.
    2. Separate egg for white (reserve yolk for another use). Beat egg white and liquid smoke in large bowl until frothy. Add nuts to egg white mixture; stir to coat. Sprinkle with seasoning mixture; toss to coat evenly. Spread nut mixture evenly on baking sheet (wash hands). Bake 25–30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes, until toasted, fragrant, and 160°F. Let stand to cool completely on baking sheet before serving. (Makes about 4 cups.)
