Ingredients
- 2 oz Gruyère cheese
- 1 loaf Bakery Tutto Pugliese bread
- 2 large eggs
- 3 tablespoons half-and-half
- ⅛ teaspoon kosher salt
- ⅛ teaspoon pepper
- 1 tablespoon canola oil
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 2 oz thin-sliced deli-style ham
- Seedless raspberry jam (optional)
Steps
- Shred cheese (⅓ cup); cut 2 (½-inch-thick) slices from bread. Combine, eggs, half-and-half, salt, and pepper; whisk thoroughly.
- Preheat large, nonstick sauté pan on medium 2–3 minutes. Place oil and butter in pan. Dip bread into egg mixture, coating both sides, then add bread to pan; pour remaining egg mixture into pan around bread. Cover and cook 2–3 minutes until egg is 160°F. Flip bread over; fold cooked egg mixture over onto bread.
- Top 1 slice bread with ham, top remaining slice with cheese. Cover and cook 2 more minutes until bread is golden and cheese has melted. Close sandwich; serve with jam on the side for dipping, if using.
