Sizzling Steaks
Ingredients
- ½ cup red wine vinaigrette
- 1 packet brown gravy mix (0.75–1 oz)
- Large zip-top bag
- 1 ½ lb boneless New York strip steaks
- 1 teaspoon barbecue-style seasoning
- Baked potatoes (optional, for serving)
Steps
- Preheat grill (or grill pan) on medium-high. Place vinaigrette and dry gravy mix in bag; shake to combine. Cut steaks into 4 portions and add to bag (wash hands); seal bag and knead gently to coat steaks. Let stand 20 minutes (or chill overnight) to marinate.
- Remove steaks from bag (discard marinade). Coat steaks with seasoning.
- Place steaks on grill and close lid (or cover loosely with foil); grill 4–5 minutes on each side until steaks are 125°F (for medium rare; warm red center), 130°F (for medium; warm pink center), or up to 170°F (for well done). Transfer steaks to cutting board and let stand 5–10 minutes before slicing; temperature will rise 5–10°F during this time. Serve with baked potatoes, if using.
Creamy Rice Primavera
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 4 oz sliced fresh baby portabella mushrooms
- 8 oz tomato trinity mix (diced fresh tomatoes, bell peppers, and onions)
- 1 (8.8 oz) pouch cooked white rice
- ½ cup Alfredo sauce
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon fresh basil
Steps
- Preheat large sauté pan on medium-high 2–3 minutes. Place butter in pan, then add garlic and mushrooms; cook and stir 3–4 minutes until garlic is golden and mushrooms have reduced. Stir in tomato trinity mix; cook and stir 4–5 minutes until tender.
- Stir in rice, Alfredo sauce, and cheese; cover and reduce heat to low. Cook 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, or until bubbly and steaming. Chop basil finely, stir into pan, and serve.
Serving Suggestions
- Complete your meal with fresh salad blend, French bread, and Key lime pie for dessert.
- Slice the cooked steaks thinly and serve over fresh salad greens for a tasty, hearty salad.
Sizzling Steaks
