Ingredients

  • ¼-inch piece fresh ginger
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon warm water
  • 1 lemon, for twist/juice
  • 2 oz Scotch
  • Splash of club soda

Steps

    1. Peel ginger and slice into coins. Combine honey and warm water to make honey syrup. Cut strip of lemon peel for twist, then juice lemon (¾ oz).
    2. Muddle ginger, honey syrup, and lemon juice in cocktail shaker. Add ice and Scotch. Shake well; strain into an ice-filled rocks glass.
    3. Top with club soda and garnish with lemon twist.

Other Preparation Methods

    For a sweeter, American twist.
    Omit honey syrup; substitute honey bourbon for the Scotch and lemon-lime soda for the club soda.

    Combine 2 oz Scotch, 2 oz ginger ale, and 2 oz club soda to make a classic Presbyterian cocktail.
