Ingredients

For Peppermint White Chocolate Cocoa Mix
  • 2 cups powdered milk
  • 1 (3.3 oz) package instant white chocolate (or vanilla) pudding mix
  • 24 peppermint candies
  • 1 ½ cups decorative sprinkles
  • 3 cups white chocolate morsels
  • 1 (10.5 oz) bag mini marshmallows
For Snowman Truffle Straws
  • 6 peppermint candies
  • 12 white chocolate truffles
  • 3 tablespoons light corn syrup
  • ¼ cup decorative sprinkles
  • ¼ cup sweetened coconut flakes (optional)
  • 12 decorative straws (or wooden coffee stirrers)
  • 1 tube black icing
  • 1 tube orange icing

Steps

  1. For Peppermint White Chocolate Cocoa Mix
    1. Combine powdered milk and pudding mix; whisk until blended. Divide cocoa mixture among 12 (14 oz) serving glasses/mugs (about ¼ cup per glass). Crush peppermints (about 1 ½ cups).
    2. Layer each glass evenly in this order: 2 tablespoons sprinkles, 2 tablespoons peppermints, ¼ cup morsels, and ½ cup marshmallows. (Divide cocoa mix and toppings in half to make 24 (8 oz) mugs)
    For Snowman Truffle Straws
    1. Crush peppermints. Score one end of each truffle with paring knife. Brush scored end of each truffle with corn syrup, then coat with coconut (if using), sprinkles, and peppermints.
    2. Pinch one end of each straw; gently push pinched end of straw through scored end of truffle. Decorate truffle with black icing for "coal" eyes and smile and orange icing for a "carrot" nose. Place truffle straws in mugs of cocoa mix; decorate as gifts. Add instructions for preparation of hot cocoa (below).
    Preparation of Peppermint-White Chocolate Hot Cocoa
    1. Bring 10–12 ounces (per mug) of water to a simmer in medium saucepan on medium.
    2. Add liquid to mug; stir 1 minute or until chocolate morsels, peppermint, and marshmallows begin to melt. Stir in snowman truffle (if desired). Enjoy!
