Peanut Butter-Chocolate Pinecones
8 servings
1 hour total

Ingredients

  • ½ cup milk chocolate morsels
  • 1 ¼ cups creamy peanut butter, divided
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 4 ½ cups rice squares cereal
  • ½ cup + ¼ cup chocolate-hazelnut spread, divided
  • 1 ½ cups + 2 tablespoons powdered sugar, divided
  • Nonstick aluminum foil
  • 8 pretzel rods

Steps

    1. Combine in medium microwave-safe bowl: chocolate morsels, ¼ cup peanut butter, and butter; microwave 2–3 minutes until chocolate has melted. Whisk chocolate mixture until smooth, then stir (fold) in cereal.
    2. Mix ½ cup chocolate-hazelnut spread, 1 ½ cups powdered sugar, and remaining 1 cup peanut butter until combined. Cover flat work surface with foil. Divide peanut butter mixture into 8 equal pieces, then form into balls spaced 2 inches apart. Push 1 pretzel rod through each ball, then shape mixture into cone 2–2 ½ inches up sides of pretzel.
    3. Insert cereal pieces into peanut butter mixture in ring, starting at the bottom. Stagger cereal in additional rings (to look like a pinecone). Cut pretzel tip off near the end of each pinecone, then cover with ½ tablespoon chocolate- hazelnut spread. Dust finished pinecones with remaining 2 tablespoons powdered sugar. Serve.
Chef's Tip: Serve any remaining cereal mixture dusted with additional powdered sugar for a delicious treat.
