Maple Walnut Blondies

Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • Nonstick aluminum foil
  • 1 ½ cups firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 eggs (or ½ cup egg substitute)
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups white baking morsels
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts

Steps

    1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Cut butter into small pieces; place in large bowl to soften. Line 9-inch square baking dish with foil.
    2. Add sugar to butter; blend with electric mixer until light and fluffy. Add baking powder, salt, eggs, syrup, and vanilla; beat mixture well.
    3. Gradually add flour, beating at low speed after each addition. Stir in morsels and walnuts. Spread batter evenly into baking dish. Bake 35–40 minutes or until golden and center is set.
    4. Cool completely in pan (or chill 1 hour until firm) before cutting into bars. Serve.
