Ingredients
- Cooking spray
- 1 (12 oz) loaf Bakery French bread (or baguette)
- 8 oz Deli Brie cheese
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
- 1 cup maple syrup, divided
- ½ teaspoon coarse sea salt
Steps
- Coat baking sheet with spray. Cut bread into 12 (½-inch-thick) slices. Remove rind from Brie, if desired, then cut Brie into 12 slices.
- Preheat large, nonstick sauté pan on medium 1–2 minutes. Melt 2 tablespoons butter in pan. Add ½ cup syrup and bring to a simmer. Add 6 slices bread, turning immediately to coat both sides; cook 3–4 minutes on each side until bread is golden (syrup will absorb; bread will be sticky). Transfer bread to baking sheet. Repeat with remaining 2 tablespoons butter, ½ cup maple syrup, and 6 slices bread.
- Arrange cheese slices on bread; let stand 2–3 minutes until syrup sets and cheese softens. Sprinkle with salt. Serve.
Other Preparation Methods
- Dip: Place Brie in small baking dish; top with ¼ cup honey, ½ cup finely chopped pistachios or walnuts, and 1 teaspoon orange zest. Bake at 400°F for 10 minutes or until cheese is hot and gooey.
- Appetizer: Arrange bite-size pieces Brie on dried apricots. Top with sliced pepperoncini and secure with toothpicks.
