Hungarian-Style Pork Stew

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ lb pork for stew
  • 2 teaspoons creole seasoning
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1lb sliced fresh peppers and onions
  • 3 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 (1.41 oz) package pork gravy mix
  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • 2 cups water

Steps

    1. Heat large sauté pan on medium high 2–3 minutes; coat pork with seasoning (wash hands). Add butter and pork to pan; cook pork 3–4 minutes on each side until browned. Stir in vegetables and paprika; cook 2–3 minutes until softened. Add remaining ingredients and bring to a simmer.
    2. Transfer pork mixture to multicooker. Seal following manufacturer's instructions; cook on HIGH 45 minutes or until pork is 185°F (for shreddable). Serve over egg noodles, topped with sour cream.
Other Preparation Methods

    • Stovetop: Heat large saucepan on medium-high 2–3 minutes. Season 1 ½ lb pork for stew with 1 teaspoon kosher salt (wash hands). Add 2 tablespoons olive oil and pork to pan; cook 3–4 minutes on each side until browned. Stir in 1 (8 oz) package diced trinity mix and 6 cloves sliced garlic. Cook 1–2 minutes until garlic is fragrant. Stir in 1 (32 oz) jar spicy tomato sauce; reduce heat to medium-low. Cover and cook 1 ½ hours, stirring occasionally, or until pork is 185°F. Serve over hot cooked fettuccine, topped with sliced fresh basil and grated Parmesan cheese.
