Ingredients
- cooking spray
- ¼ cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
- 1 (14.5-oz) box country white bread mix
- 1 (4.25-oz) can chopped black olives,drained
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup hot water
- all-purpose flour, for rolling dough
- margarine (or butter), for serving with bread
Steps
- Preheat oven to 425°F. Coat baking sheet with cooking spray. Chop basil. Combine bread mix and yeast (from bread mix) in large mixing bowl; stir in olives, cheese, and basil until well blended.
- Add water, stirring until soft dough forms; turn dough out onto a floured surface. Knead 3–4 minutes or until dough is smooth and elastic. Place dough on baking sheet, forming into a 15-inch loaf. Make two ¼-inch slits diagonally across top. Let stand 10 minutes to rest.
- Bake bread 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 375°F. Bake 8–10 more minutes or until golden. Let stand 5 minutes before slicing. Serve with butter. (Makes 12 servings.)
