Ingredients
- Nonstick aluminum foil
- ¼ cup garlic-herb butter
- 8 oz fresh mozzarella cheese
- 0.5 oz fresh basil
- 4 GreenWise Plain Bagels
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup pasta sauce (optional for serving)
Steps
- Preheat oven to 450°F. Line baking sheet with foil. Melt butter. Cut cheese in half, then cut into thin slices. Tear basil (leaves only; ½ cup).
- Place bagels flat on work surface. Cut into each bagel with a serrated knife at ½-inch intervals (6–8 cuts), leaving ¼ inch intact. Place bagels on baking sheet.
- Place mozzarella and basil into cuts. Drizzle butter over bagels, then sprinkle with Parmesan. Bake 8–10 minutes until bagels are golden and cheese has melted. Serve with warm pasta sauce, if desired.
Other Preparation Methods
- Broil: Preheat broiler on HIGH. Open bagels and place on foil-lined baking sheet. Top each bagel half with 3 tablespoons each chocolate morsels and miniature marshmallows. Broil 6 inches from heat for 30 seconds or until chocolate melts and marshmallows turn golden. Sprinkle each with 1 teaspoon crushed graham crackers.
- Bake: Cut bagels into ½-inch cubes; toss with melted butter. Place on baking sheet and bake 7–8 minutes until toasted. Serve in salads or yogurt.
