Easy Cheesy Cracker Planks
4 servings
1 hour, 30 minutes total (Active 25 minutes)

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter
  • 8 oz sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (+ more for dusting)
  • 3–4 tablespoons ice water
  • Plastic wrap
  • Parchment paper

Steps

    1. Cut butter into cubes and place in large bowl to soften. Shred cheese.
    2. Place cheese, garlic salt, and pepper in bowl with butter; beat with electric mixer until well blended. Stir in flour, then add water 1 tablespoon at a time, kneading mixture until dough forms (may not need all water). Form dough into 1-inch-thick square and cover with plastic wrap. Let stand 30 minutes at room temperature.
    3. Preheat oven to 350°F; line baking sheet with parchment paper. Dust work surface lightly with flour; roll out dough to ⅛-inch-thick rectangle. Trim off uneven edges, then cut dough into 2- x 1-inch crackers. Arrange on baking sheet and bake 20–25 minutes until edges are slightly golden. Let stand on baking sheet until completely cool; serve.
Chef's Tip: Get kids involved by letting them roll out the dough. Using a pizza cutter is an easy and fun way to cut out the crackers.
