Colombian-Style Tinto

Ingredients

  • 12 cups water
  • 8 oz panela (or dark brown sugar)
  • 1 cup medium fine–ground Colombian coffee
  • Cheesecloth

Steps

    1. Bring water and panela to a boil in a large saucepan; whisk until dissolved. Remove from heat, stir in coffee, and let steep 3–4 minutes.
    2. Strain coffee through cheesecloth (or fine-mesh strainer). Serve.
