25 minutes total

Ingredients

  • ½ small white onion
  • 1 small tomato
  • ¼ cup sweet (or spicy) pickle relish
  • 1 drop green food coloring gel (optional)
  • 4 hot dog buns
  • Cooking spray
  • ½ teaspoon poppy seeds
  • 4 hot dogs
  • 4 dill pickle spears
  • 4 teaspoons prepared mustard
  • ½ teaspoon celery salt

Steps

    1. Chop onion finely (¼ cup). Cut tomato into 8 slices. Combine relish and food coloring, if using. Coat sides of buns lightly with spray and sprinkle evenly with poppy seeds.
    2. Bring small saucepan of water to a boil. Add hot dogs and cook 2–3 minutes until 165°F.
    3. Place hot dogs in buns. Add 2 tomato slices on 1 side of each hot dog and pickle spear on other side. Top each hot dog with 1 tablespoon each onions and relish. Drizzle with mustard and sprinkle with celery salt. Serve.

Chef’s Tip: For quick and easy steamed buns, wrap each bun in damp paper towel and microwave on HIGH 15 seconds until warm, then spray and coat with seeds.
