Ingredients
For the red layer
- 1 ½ cups fresh (or frozen, thawed) cherries (+ additional, optional for garnish)
- ½ cup tart cherry juice
- ½ cup red bitter liqueur
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 4 cups ice
For the orange layer
- 1 ½ cups orange juice
- ¼ cup vodka
- 4 cups ice
- Orange slice (optional for garnish)
Steps
- Prepare the red layer. Pit cherries, if needed. Place in blender: cherries, cherry juice, liqueur, honey, and ice; blend on high 2–3 minutes until no ice chunks remain. Divide mixture evenly among 4 highball glasses
- Prepare the orange layer. Rinse blender, then add orange juice, vodka, and ice; blend on high 1–2 minutes until no ice chunks remain. Divide mixture evenly among glasses on top of red layer; stir gently to swirl layers together. Garnish with additional cherries or orange slice, if desired.
Other Preparation Methods
Want it a little sweeter?
Substitute cranberry-cherry juice for the tart cherry juice and double the honey or add a dash of maraschino cherry juice.
