Beer Bratwurst with Peppers and Onions

Ingredients

  • 5 links bratwurst (or mild Italian sausage; about 1 ¼ lb total)
  • 1 (10 oz) package sliced fresh peppers and onions
  • 1 (12 oz) can beer (or 1 ½ cups water)
  • 5 Bakery hot dog buns
  • 10 teaspoons deli-style mustard, divided

Steps

    1. Preheat large sauté pan on medium-high 2–3 minutes. Place sausages in pan; cook 4–6 minutes, turning often, until browned. Add peppers and onions; cook and stir 2 minutes.
    2. Add beer and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and cover; simmer 15–20 minutes until sausages are 160°F.
    3. Slice buns in half lengthwise, leaving ½ inch uncut. Spread 2 teaspoons mustard in each bun; top with sausage and ½ cup fajita mix. Serve.
