Baked Egg Boats
4 servings
30 minutes total

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter
  • 2 Publix Bakery French demi-baguettes
  • 2 oz Gruyère cheese
  • Nonstick aluminum foil
  • 6 large eggs (or 1 ½ cups egg substitute)
  • ⅓ cup heavy whipping cream
  • ¼ cup cooked bacon pieces
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 teaspoons dried chives (optional)

Steps

    1. Set butter out to soften. Preheat oven to 350°F. Slice 1 ½-inch deep "V" into top of each baguette; remove tops and scoop out some inner bread, leaving ½-inch border inside (reserve tops and scooped-out bread for another use). Shred cheese (½ cup).
    2. Wrap foil loosely under and around sides of baguettes to form nests; arrange on baking sheet (prevent bread from tipping). Spread butter inside baguettes; sprinkle with ¼ cup cheese.
    3. Whisk eggs, heavy cream, bacon, and salt; fill baguettes evenly with mixture. Top evenly with remaining ¼ cup cheese. Bake 12–15 minutes until eggs are 160°F and bread is toasted; sprinkle with chives, if using. Let stand 10 minutes; slice and serve.
Other Preparation Methods
    • Pizza: Preheat oven to 425°F. Cut 2 Publix Bakery French demi-baguettes in half lengthwise. Spread ¾ cup pasta sauce evenly on cut sides of bread and arrange on parchment-lined baking sheet. Top evenly with 2 cups shredded Italian-style cheese blend; ½ cup cooked, crumbled sausage; and ¼ cup each diced fresh red onions and bell peppers. Sprinkle with 1 teaspoon everything Italian seasoning. Bake 12–15 minutes until bread is crisp and cheese has melted.
