Product details FAY Vineyard, established by pioneering grape grower Nathan Fay in 1961, was the first planting of Cabernet Sauvignon in what is now the Stags Leap District AVA. Stag's Leap Wine Cellars purchased this historic vineyard from Nathan Fay in 1986. Today, FAY Vineyard remains one of the great Napa Valley vineyards, producing fruit with an abundance of supple red and black berry character, voluptuous perfume and a luscious, fine-grained texture. The grapes were mainly sourced from Blocks 4, 6, 3, 5C, 8A, 8B, 1 and 10A, which combined, give the wine its classic red-fruit tones and aromatic top notes and structure. The 2021 vintage had the second consecutive year of very dry conditions during winter and spring, coupled with challenging weather during bloom, resulted in a reduction in yield and more variability on the size of the clusters. A near perfect summer of classic Napa Valley weather – moderate temperatures during the day and cool sea breezes in the afternoon and evening – resulted in balanced structure. Early September saw a mini heat wave that pushed ripeness along, then a return to beautiful weather for the remainder of harvest. The 2021 vintage is one of the highest quality we've seen in the last decade. The 2021 FAY Estate Cabernet Sauvignon offers fragrant and generous aromas with notes of boysenberry, Bing cherries, strawberry preserves, a touch of spice, cookie dough, and subtle floral notes. This wine exhibits a youthful, vibrant mouthfeel with a savory coating and lasting finish. Tannins are silky and persistent with lasting berry notes.
