Totopos are known to have originated from the Mexican State of Oaxaca, created by the Zapotecos people of the Ishtmus of Tehuantepec. In the Mexican culinary tradition, Totopos are a thicker corn chip that has been toasted, fried or baked, and prepared with a nixtamalized corn masa.
