Product details The Freemark Abbey Napa Valley Merlot red wine represents the Napa Valleys natural ability to perfect Bordeaux varieties. The vineyards range from deep gravelly valley floor to high elevation mountainous volcanic soils. The depth of fruit coupled with the richness of flavor provides a profile that delivers from the initial sip. Aromas and flavors of cherries, wild strawberry and blueberry cobbler jump from this glass of this ruby-colored red wine. The spicy oak is well integrated with smooth flavors of baking spice, leather and plum. Pair with camembert and parmesan cheeses, pasta with bolognese sauce, beef bourguignon. This bottled California merlot is 14.5% alcohol by volume. For over half a century, Napa Valley has enjoyed a reputation interchangeable with premium wine. It has gained this reputation for its wine grapes in California for a reason: the amazing complexity that skilled winemakers can coax out of it when grown in optimum locations. They know all about this in the great, old chateaux of Bordeaux, as well as at many younger, but equally prestigious, wineries in Napa Valley. The world's best wine grapes are grown in these respective regions. Today, Freemark Abbey is many things to many people: a team of some of the most respected winemakers working in Napa Valley; a historic 1886 winery and pristine estate, with an enthusiastic hospitality program that highlights both; a collection of source vineyards up and down Napa Valley, representing several of California's most distinctive terroirs; an extensive–and unparalleled–wine library that stretches back decades; and a winery that, because of its long history and international reputation, is one of Napa Valley's true ambassador brands.
