Product details Behind each Veuve Clicquot cuvee lies a brilliant story. Yellow Label's reflects Veuve Clicquot itself, to taste this Champagne is to understand the House. It began in 1877 when, in keeping with Madame Clicquot's audacious spirit, Veuve Clicquot distinguished itself by putting a yellow label on its bottles. The use of the unmistakable hue was born from the need to distinguish a new "dry" Champagne from the House's sweeter wine bearing a white label. The first Yellow Label became an instant sensation. Today, Yellow Label is the signature of Veuve Clicquot's quality and style, and its brilliant yellow label reflects the Champagne's bright personality and impeccable winemaking credentials. Yellow Label in particular reveals Veuve Clicquot's skill in the art of blending. The Cellar Master's challenge is to achieve the consistency that makes Yellow Label so immediately recognizable in quality, color and bouquet. He blends 30-45% reserve wines with grapes from as many as 50 to 60 different crus. The Pinot Noir predominance (50-55%) provides the structure that is so typically Veuve Clicquot, while Chardonnay (28-33%) adds the elegance and finesse essential in a perfectly balanced wine, and a touch of Meunier (15-20%) rounds out the blend. The long aging in our Crayeres (3 years minimum for Yellow Label) gives silkiness to the Champagne. Yellow Label's consistent power to please makes it ideal for an ape´ritif or to shine bright throughout a meal. Its radiant style works beautifully with salmon, blinis, fish tartare, seafood, tagliatelle, Parmesan and crackers.
