On to the Main Event
Follow these cooking tips for the perfect Easter ham.
If heating a fully cooked ham, begin 2–3 hours before dinner (depending on the size of the ham). Set oven temperature to 325°F. Remove all packaging from ham, then wrap ham in foil and place in a shallow baking pan. Allow 20 minutes per pound. For hams over 10 pounds, allow 15–18 minutes per pound. (Also refer to label instructions.)
Use a meat thermometer to check the temperature in the center of the ham (not touching the bone or fat). When the internal temperature reaches 140°F, remove from oven and transfer to a carving board. Let it stand 10–20 minutes before carving. Carve the ham and serve.
