Yes, Publix does cash personal and payroll checks at all stores. To cash a check at Publix you must provide a driver license, state-issued photo identification card, or military identification.

No. Publix Super Markets is aware of several consumer check-cashing and wire transfer scams. If you have received any unsolicited communication that includes a check that appears to be from Publix, or instructions to wire money pertaining to an alleged Publix-sponsored lottery or promotion, please contact our Publix Consumer Relations Department at (800) 242-1227 or complete a Contact Us form on our website.

If you don't know why Publix would send a check to you, then don't cash or deposit the check.

You can help protect yourself from fraud by considering the following:

  • Never send money to a stranger using a money transfer service.
  • Beware of deals or opportunities that seem too good to be true.
  • Don't use money transfer services to pay for things like online auction purchases.
  • Never send money to pay for taxes or fees on foreign lottery winnings.

You may have received a letter from us informing you that a check presented by you to Publix Super Markets was dishonored by the bank.

For checks written after March 1, 2018, you can pay for your check by calling Certegy at 1-800-237-3826.

For checks written before March 1, 2018, you can pay for your check at the store where it was presented. Payment for returned checks at our store locations can only be made with cash, money order, or cashier's check. Payment may also be made by phone by calling 1-866-525-3040, Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time.

Note: It may take up to 6 business days after payment is made before you are able to write checks again at Publix.
