These wines have met their match.

It’s easy to create winning combinations by following some general guidelines for popular varietals.

Cabernet sauvignon is a rich, medium- to full-bodied red with flavors of oak, dark fruit, and spice. Pair it with hearty foods such as red meats and braised dishes. Bring out layers of flavor with cheddar and Gouda cheeses.

Chardonnay is a light- to full-bodied white. Lighter varietals are crisp, while medium-bodied ones are buttery, and full-bodied ones have flavors of tree or tropical fruit. This wine is excellent with most chicken and pork meals, and rich seafood such as creamy shellfish dishes. It can also be paired with a wide range of cheeses. Brie is a classic, elegant choice.

Pinot grigio is a white wine that can be light-bodied and crisp, or medium- to full-bodied and fruity. Pair it with light fare such as salad, fruit, and sandwiches—it’s excellent for dining outdoors. It can also be paired with mild cheeses.

Pinot noir is a red wine that can be light-bodied and earthy, medium-bodied and fruit-forward, or full-bodied with flavors of red fruit, spice, and oak. Pair it with pizza or grilled foods. Looking for a cheese? Try Gruyère—the nutty flavors work perfectly.

Prosecco is a sparkling white wine of Italian origin. It is light and crisp, and pairs well with appetizers, spicy foods, and desserts.

Rosé is a light-bodied wine with abundant fruit flavor. Because rosé refers to a genre as opposed to a grape type, you’ll find many different varietals, ranging from dry to sweet. All pair well with a light hors d’oeuvres course or a casual outdoor meal.

Go beyond the basics.

Nobody says you stop having fun at 21! Now that you understand the keys to successful pairing, it’s time to create some unique combinations. Here are our favorites.

Trail mix and pinot noir.
Dried fruit and nuts play off the fruity and earthy notes in pinot noir. Try this pairing with our dark chocolate cranberry trail mix.

Pumpkin pie and chardonnay.
Chardonnay may be an unexpected choice for a dessert course, but it pairs delightfully with rich choices, such as our Bakery pumpkin pie.

Pastries and sparkling wine.
A sparkling selection cuts through the flaky and creamy textures in an elegant pastry such as Publix Premium Brie & Raspberry Puffs.

Strawberry ice cream and French rosé.
A berry-flavored dessert such as GreenWise Strawberry Ice Cream complements the red fruit flavors in French rosé.

Brookies and merlot.
Our GreenWise Chocolate Chip Brookies are the best of both brownies and cookies—and they get even better with a glass of earthy merlot.

Pizza and pinot noir.
The oak and spice flavors of pinot noir enhance a stone-baked crust, robust sauce, and quality cheeses. Try this pairing with Publix Premium Five-Cheese Pizza from our frozen foods section.

Chicken tenders and prosecco.
With their crispy, hand-breaded coating and savory flavor, our Deli Fried Chicken Tenders bring exciting contrast and enhance the toasty notes in your glass of bubbly.

Gourmet burger and zinfandel.
A Publix Ready to Cook gourmet burger is irresistible on its own. But when you pair those robust flavors with a bold, earthy zinfandel, you’re thinking like a true chef.

Lemon bars and sauvignon blanc.
Our Bakery Decadent Lemon Bars complement the citrus fruit flavors in sauvignon blanc.

Guacamole and cava.
As a velvety dip characterized by the umami characteristics of avocado, Publix Deli Mild Guacamole perfectly balances light, bubbly cava.

Mac & cheese and cabernet sauvignon.
Bring out layers of flavor in a cabernet sauvignon with Publix Creamy Homestyle Macaroni & Cheese.

Spicy cheese puffs and riesling.
A semisweet riesling is best for this pairing. It balances the cheese flavor and cools the spice in a zesty snack such as Cheetos Crunchy Flamin’ Hot.

Bacon and cabernet sauvignon.
Bacon is an excellent foil for the robust fruit flavors of this varietal. Get the recipe for Maple-Chipotle Bacon Skewers.

Popcorn and chardonnay.
Our Deli Fresh Popcorn brings out the nutty flavors in chardonnay, and the buttery aspect of the wine enhances the buttery richness of this tasty snack food.

Chocolate and a red blend.
The fruit-forward, semisweet flavor of a medium-bodied red blend works well with the smooth character and cocoa butter components of rich, chocolatey foods, such as our GreenWise Flourless Chocolate Truffle Torte Cake.

Potato chips and pinot grigio.
The salt in Publix Dip-Style Potato Chips perfectly balances rich, fruity pinot grigio.

Peanut butter & jelly sandwich and pinot noir.
Match your classic PB&J with a dry, spicy wine to balance the acidity of the wine with the sweetness of the jelly. The wine will bring out the nutty flavors in the peanut butter and give it an even creamier taste.

Charcuterie and chardonnay.
Chardonnay cuts through the richness of the tasty meats and cheeses in the Boar’s Head® Mix and Mingle Charcuterie Box.
