Homemade Valentine Pet Treats

Valentine's baked goods aren't just for people. Give your pet a special treat with these easy-to-make, pet-safe, homemade goodies!

Homemade Biscuits

Ingredients
1 cup white flour
1 cup whole-wheat flour
1/4 cup chopped sunflower seeds, unsalted
2 tablespoons applesauce
1 tablespoon peanut butter
1/4 cup molasses
2 eggs, beaten
1/4 cup milk

Steps

  1. Mix together flours and sunflower seeds.
  2. Add applesauce, peanut butter, and molasses. Stir well.
  3. In separate bowl, mix together eggs and milk. Add to dough. If too dry, add more milk until firm dough is achieved.
  4. Knead for a few minutes. Roll out to 1/2-inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes.
  5. Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes, or until brown and firm.

  4. Knead for a few minutes.
  5. Roll out to 1/2” thickness.
  6. Cut into desired shapes.
  7. Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes, or until biscuits are brown and firm.

Banana Bites

Ingredients
2 1/4 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 cup nonfat dry milk
1 large egg
1/3 cup mashed ripe banana
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 beef bouillon cube dissolved in 1/2 cup hot water
1 tablespoon brown sugar

Steps

  1. Mix all ingredients until well blended.
  2. Knead for two minutes on a floured surface.
  3. Roll to 1/4” thickness.
  4. Cut into desired shapes and place on ungreased baking sheets.
  5. Bake at 300°F for 30 minutes.
  6. Cool on wire rack.
