A Perfect Make-Ahead Sausage Lasagna

Smoked Sausage Lasagna

Be ready for anything by having at least one simple, hearty frozen dish and a pleasing wine pairing you can serve on short notice. Lasagna is a can't-miss crowd-pleaser, especially this Sausage Lasagna paired with a great
bottle of wine.

Smoked Sausage Lasagna:  Chicken-apple sausage and fresh fennel infuse this dish with winter flavors. Sweet or spicy Italian sausage would also be tasty.

Chianti with Sausage Lasagna

With its deeply flavored tomato sauce, this sausage lasagna pairs well with red wines from Italy, which are crafted to balance the robust acid in tomato sauce. Grab a Chianti Classico from Banfi. This wine has a full nose of cherry and plum that leads to a silky, balanced medium body. The wine may heighten the spice from the sausage, so, if you have some tolerance for heat, you may love this pairing.

Pinot Noir with Sausage Lasagna

A softer red, such as a pinot noir from La Crema or Francis Coppola Diamond, is also a good choice to go with sausage lasagna. Both are readily available at reasonable prices, and offer robust wild cherry and vanilla notes. Soft tannins balance sweet
red peppers and temper the spice of sausage, but still have enough body to stand up to the meat.
