Publix Storm Basics
Before the Storm

When a hurricane strikes, it's important to be prepared. Publix is committed to helping its customers understand, plan for, and weather the storm. Because the only thing worse than being in a hurricane, is being unprepared for one.

Preparing for the Storm

In case of a storm, you'll need enough supplies and nonperishable foods to last two weeks. Print out the checklists below and take them with you when you shop. This is also a good time to check prescriptions and get them refilled. This ensures you and your family have just what you need to weather the storm.

After the Storm

Even though the storm’s over, there are still a lot of things you need to know. You’ll want to remain indoors until you’re given official notice that it’s okay to venture outside, and when you do, you’ll want to stay away from trees (and other objects) that have come in contact with power lines. You’ll also need to know about food and water safety, such as what you need to throw out and how to disinfect your water.

After a hurricane, visit www.publix.com/status for information about stores that may be closed in your area.
