General Q&A

Q: Is there an HTML version of the weekly ad available?

Yes, there is an HTML version of the weekly ad that is optimized for dial-up connections and for screen readers often used by the visually impaired.  You can access the weekly ad for your Publix at www.publix.com/adhtml

Q: When do the new weekly ads post to the Publix.com Web site?

Our weekly ads are posted on Publix.com starting around 12:00 a.m. EST on the morning the ad pricing becomes effective; we currently have two weekly ad cycles: Wednesday through Tuesday and Thursday through Wednesday.  The Wednesday cycle ads are posted around 12:00 a.m. EST Wednesday morning, and Thursday cycle ads are posted around 12:00 a.m. EST Thursday morning.

Please note: The process to post the weekly ads involves all content to be published throughout the Internet across many different servers and may take up to several hours to complete; therefore, there is no guarantee as to the time the ads will appear on our Web site.

Q: How can I sign up to receive e-mail notifications when a new ad is published for my store?

You can sign up to receive e-mail notifications when each new Publix weekly ad is published by submitting your e-mail address on the Home tab as shown below. If you change your e-mail address, just simply sign-up again with your new address.  You will begin receiving the e-mail notification at that address right away.

Q: How can I change which store's weekly ad alert I receive?

With the Publix weekly ad alert system, you can only receive one store alert per e-mail address. To sign up for a different store, simply go to the welcome page for the new store’s weekly ad and sign up with your e-mail address.  You will stop receiving the ad for the old store and begin receiving the ad for the new store.

Q: Is there a version of the weekly ad that I can use with my screen reader software?

The HTML version of the weekly ad has been designed to work well with the popular JAWS screen reader. To access the HTML version, either click the HTML version toggle in the top right of the weekly ad, or click here. For help using JAWS to browse the weekly ad, please use the link at the bottom of every HTML page labeled "Learn about site accessibility."

Q: How can I clear all the items in my shopping list?

Each week when a new ad is published, your shopping list is automatically cleared. If you desire to clear your entire list before then, you must either remove one item at a time, or you may choose to delete your cookie, which will reset all information stored about your visit to the Publix weekly ad, including your selected store, ad version, and all items in your shopping list.

Q: How can I increase the size of the ad, including the font size?

To increase the size of the ad, access the HTML version for your Publix location at www.publix.com/adhtml. Then, increase your browser's zoom level which is usually found in the bottom-right corner of your browser window. The website will remember your preferred view mode each time you visit the weekly ad.

Troubleshooting Q&A

Q: Why won't the weekly ad load in my Web browser?

The Publix weekly ad platform is certified to work as designed on Microsoft Internet Explorer (MSIE) 6.0 or higher, and Firefox 3.0 or higher; while it will likely work on most versions of the Safari browser, there are known problems reported when trying to use an AOL browser. If you are using either AOL or Safari, please try one of the certified browsers.

If you are using a certified browser and cannot get the weekly ad to fully load in your Web browser, the issue is most likely with the Web browser cookie used to store your preferred store and shopping list items.  To resolve the problem, please delete your cookies and try visiting the weekly ad again; if your cookie is reset, you should be prompted to enter a zip code or address to begin the store selection process.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR MICROSOFT INTERNET EXPLORER 8 USERS: MSIE8 will protect your weekly ad cookie and will not delete it if you have the "Preserve Favorites website data" checked when you run the delete process, or if you rely on the auto-delete feature of the Web browser.  To properly delete your weekly ad cookie, please make sure the check box for this is unchecked, as shown here:

If deleting your cookie does not resolve your issue, the problem may be with your computer's Adobe Flash settings; in this case, please make sure you have the latest version of Flash installed or try using the HTML version.

Q: Why is the weekly ad being cut off on the right and at the bottom of the page?

This is a known issue when viewing the broadband (Flash) version of the weekly ad specific to certain computer systems. To view the weekly ad, please be sure you are using a certified browser (MSIE 6.0 or Firefox 3.0 and higher) and that you have the latest version of Flash installed. If you continue to experience the ad being cut off, please use the HTML version.

Q: Why don't the shopping list counts match the actual number of items on my list?

Shopping list counts are maintained in the Web site's cookie, so when there are inaccurate counts, the cookie has somehow become corrupted. Please delete your cookie and rebuild your shopping list. Please note that deleting your cookie will reset all information stored about your visit to the Publix weekly ad, including your selected store, ad version, and all items in your shopping list.

Q: Why can't I print my weekly ad shopping list? Nothing happens when I click "Print Weekly Ad Items Only."

Clicking on the Print Weekly Ad Items Only control will open a new browser tab or window (depending on your browser settings) with an HTML version of the shopping list, as well as the print menu for your computer. If you do not see the HTML version of the weekly ad, be sure to check other tabs and other browser windows that may be open; if the HTML version does not open, please be sure that any pop-up blockers are disabled for the domain http://publix.shoplocal.com.

Q: Why don't the sale items I added to my list show up when I click on "Print Weekly Ad Items Only"?

The most common reason for sale items not showing on the printed shopping list for weekly ad items only is a corrupted cookie. Please delete your cookie and rebuild your shopping list. Please note that deleting your cookie will reset all information stored about your visit to the Publix weekly ad, including your selected store, ad version, and all items in your shopping list. If you continue to have issues with your shopping list using the broadband (Flash) version of the weekly ads, please delete your cookies and then select the HTML version of the ad and build your shopping list anew.

Q: Why doesn't the Circle Item tool add items to my shopping list?

In previous versions of the weekly ad, the Circle Item tool would add an item directly to the shopping list; however, this feature no longer functions this way. If you wish to add an item to the shopping list using one click, please use the Browse by Items tab and add items from the list provided for each category of items.

Q: Why am I not receiving the weekly ad alert?

If you're not receiving the weekly ad alert, you'll first want to ensure you signed up for the alerts properly.
  • To get your weekly ad by e-mail, go to the weekly ad, click the Home tab, enter your e-mail address, and click Go.
  • To change your e-mail address, simply sign-up again with your new address. You'll begin receiving the e-mail notification at that address right away.

If you're still not receiving the weekly ad alert, check your junk (spam) e-mail folder to see if the alert is there. To ensure the alerts aren't treated as junk e-mail, add PublixWeeklyAds@shoplocalalerts.com to your Safe Senders list.

Please note: Signing up for the weekly ad alerts is a separate process than signing up for your My Publix account or choosing a preferred store.
