Cooking Sequence

  • Preheat grill and prepare one or both burger recipes for grilling (10 minutes)
  • Grill and assemble burgers (15 minutes)

Rock 'n' Roll Burgers


4 slices precooked bacon
4 Bakery French hamburger buns
1 small red onion
1 large banana
2 tablespoons honey
4 lean ground beef patties, 7% fat (1 1/2 lb)
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 cup creamy peanut butter


  1. Preheat grill (or grill pan). Microwave bacon until crispy following package instructions. Cut buns open. Slice onion thinly (1/4 cup). Mash banana with honey until blended; set all aside.
  2. Season burgers with salt and pepper (wash hands). Place burgers on grill; grill 3–4 minutes on each side and until meat is 160°F.
  3. Spread 1 tablespoon peanut butter on bottom half of each bun; top with 1/4 cup banana mixture, burger, onions, bacon, and top half of bun. Serve.

Blue Cheese Crunch Burgers


1 small red onion
1/2 cup matchstick carrots
4 tablespoons buffalo wing sauce, divided
2 tablespoons deli-style dill relish
2 cups angel hair slaw
2 cups buffalo-flavored (or BBQ) potato chips (17–20 chips)
2 oz Deli blue cheese (Danish, preferred)
4 ground chuck patties (or blue cheese burgers); 1 1/2 lb
4 hamburger buns


  1. Preheat grill (or grill pan). Cut onion in half; slice both halves very thinly (1/4 cup). Combine onions, carrots, 3 tablespoons wing sauce, and relish; stir in slaw and toss to coat. Crumble chips and cheese; set both aside. Brush burgers with remaining 1 tablespoon wing sauce.
  2. Place burgers on grill; grill 3–4 minutes without turning. Flip burgers over and top each with 1 heaping tablespoon of cheese. Grill 4–5 more minutes or until cheese melts and meat is 160°F.
  3. Place burgers on bottom half of each bun; top with 1/2 cup slaw mixture, 2 tablespoons chips, and top half of bun. Serve.
