Winter Park: Laura Sorge My Cooking School Shopping Cart

Laura Sorge

Laura Sorge is the winemaker for Red Diamond, crafting bold and distinctive wine blends from varietals sourced from around the world.

Sorge, a native of Seattle, Washington, creates the unique styles of Red Diamond using both passion…and a bit of chemistry. Fitting to Red Diamond’s unique style and taste, Sorge didn’t start her career in wine – she started after a successful career in bio-pharmaceutical research and development. Deciding to pursue her lifelong fascination with wine, Sorge moved to Eastern Washington and enrolled in the enology program at Washington State University. Her experience in the lab and familiarity with chemical theories and processes made her a star candidate for an internship at Ste. Michelle Wine Estates, and she soon put her studies to work at the winery as an intern in 2005.

In 2006, Sorge was promoted to enologist, a position that allowed her to continue using her science background combined with the art and creativity of winemaking. In 2010, Sorge was named winemaker for Red Diamond.
