Chef Liz grew up in a large Ukrainian household where family recipes were the focal point of everyday life. From a very young age, she developed a passion for cultural flavors from all around the world. In college, Chef Liz majored in Cultural Anthropology and then switched her focus to a Baking and Patisserie program at the Art Institute of Atlanta. She quickly fell in love with Artisan bread baking, European cakes and tortes, and sugar and fondant work.
After graduating Magna Cum Laude, Chef Liz worked private catering and developed her signature style of high detail gum paste and fondant cakes for private clients. While high end desserts and sugar art remain a favorite past time, she looks to inspire her students to bake from scratch the way her ancestors did. The hearth was the center of every home and village and bread was the source of life. Chef Liz ultimately hopes to bring a sense of comfort for novice bakers looking to learn the old world traditions of bread baking and demystify the magic that happens behind the oven door.
Chef Liz’s favorite cuisines include Slavic, Scandinavian, Korean and Mediterranean. She also enjoys sharing her fun and fresh ideas for cooking, baking, and entertaining.
