My career with Publix began when I was hired as an intern after graduating from the University of Florida, College of Pharmacy. I knew I wanted to work for a company where customer service was the primary focus. After meeting with Publix representatives at Career Day, I knew Publix would be a perfect fit for me.

During the next several years, Publix gave me the opportunity to work in a setting where a pharmacist can have a very positive impact on the customer’s overall health. I was able to answer questions about medications, disease states and nutritional issues. The frequency with which customers visited the grocery store provided an excellent opportunity for establishing relationships very quickly.

After several years as Pharmacy Manager, Publix gave me the opportunity to further advance my career. I was promoted to Pharmacy Supervisor, and became involved with several exciting initiatives such as our Free Antibiotic Program. This program allowed us to gain national exposure and recognition for our pharmacies. I have also been involved with the planning and implementation of a new pharmacy computer system.

Looking back on my time at Publix, I know that I made the correct decision when deciding to join the company. Publix has provided many opportunities for growth and career satisfaction. Mr. Jenkins always said, “Publix will be a little bit better or not quite as good because of you.” I look forward to continuing my career and working to make Publix “a little bit better.”
