Publix GreenWise Market Debuting in Palm Beach GardensLegacy Place Shopping Center Hours of Operation: 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday – Sunday This store will offer a wider variety of products and services. The produce department has been expanded to carry both organic and conventionally grown fruits and vegetables and features a dedicated organic processing area. Also piloting in the Publix GreenWise Market produce department will be a touchscreen electronic scale that will allow customers to weigh and price produce prior to checkout. A floral department will be available with a walk-in cooler to keep flowers fresher longer. Flowers are available by the stem or arrangement. A dedicated body care section takes center stage in the grocery department offering customers a wide selection of natural and conventional line of homeopathy, herbals, aromatherapy, shampoo, cosmetics, body care, vitamins, minerals and supplements. A HealthNotes kiosk is also available to provide customers with information on fresh foods, wines, organics, diets, supplements and medications. The wine department will carry an extensive line of specialty wines from the United States and around the world along with a large selection of champagnes and sparkling wines. Unique to this location are fine wines made with organic grapes. Wine specialists will assist customers in pairing the perfect wines with their food selections. Apron’s Simple Meals will offer customers two recipes per week. Some of the recipes will be focused around products exclusive to Publix GreenWise Market and others will focus on healthier lifestyle recipes. Meals clerks will conduct live cooking presentations and recipe cards will be available. All of the ingredients for the recipes will be found in the Apron’s Simple Meals case located directly next to the cooking kiosk. The meat department will feature 32 feet of full-service meats including more than 20 varieties of sausages and ready-to-cook products. All meats are fresh and have never had any antibiotics or added hormones while being fed a 100 percent vegetarian diet. A temperature- and humidity-controlled meat cabinet is available to age meat and enhance flavor and tenderness. The seafood department offers wild and farmed-raised varieties of fresh fish as well as an extensive variety of shellfish options, including lobsters. All seafood adheres to standards of no preservatives, no additives and no antibiotics. Sushi will be available and made with organic brown rice. The deli department includes a full-service deli counter with a full line of exclusive Boar’s Head meats and cheeses, olives, antipastos and hummus and offers more than 300 varieties of artisan cheeses. Exclusive to Publix GreenWise Market is the first cheese maturation cave in Florida, and customers may have delicate, semi-soft cheeses such as brie aged to perfection. The bakery department will offer more than 300 items made-from-scratch to include more than 20 varieties of fresh-baked breads and rolls, pita chips, croutons and bread crumbs. In addition, custom desserts will feature a new six-layer torte made from scratch with sponge cake immersed in simple syrup and five layers of filling. Pastries, muffins and cookies are available in assorted varieties made with all-natural ingredients. Chocolate offerings include an exotic array of decadent truffles, bulk chocolates and chocolate-dipped items. There’s a walk-up window at the café for customers who may be on the run and want to grab a quick snack. Also featured at Publix GreenWise Market is curbside service whereby customers can call or fax their orders in ahead of time and pull up to designated parking spots to complete their transaction. Publix GreenWise Market will offer customers an Event Planning area where event planners will assist customers with the various planning that goes into getting ready for every special occasion. The planners will place orders for cakes and platters and make suggestions that will perfectly complement every themed event. A mezzanine area is located on the second floor allowing customers to sit, relax and enjoy one of the many selections featured in the prepared foods or café area. This area is also equipped with free Wi-Fi service. A community room located in the mezzanine area is equipped with audio and video equipment and can be booked for events and meetings. The Publix GreenWise Market is certified by Quality Certification Services (QCS). Also, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification has been applied for with the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). The store has taken steps to reduce energy consumption by utilizing skylights throughout the store and a light sensoring system that monitors daylight entering into the store and adjusts fluorescent lighting accordingly. To reduce the store’s ozone depleting substances, the Publix GreenWise Market uses environmentally-friendly secondary coolant systems and refrigerants throughout the store. LED lighting is used in refrigerated cases, coolers and freezers. The roof includes a soy-based coating that is highly reflective and reduces air conditioning loads. Renewable resources were used whenever possible, including bamboo in sales fixtures. A composting effort is also being conducted with Florida Atlantic University. “Publix GreenWise Market was created to meet the needs of our customers who are seeking a healthier lifestyle for their families without sacrificing the occasional indulgence,” said Maria Brous, Publix director of media and community relations. “We recognize that our customers have become more food and environmentally savvy and want to explore these options in one convenient location.” To assist customers in distinguishing organic, all-natural and conventional items, Publix GreenWise Market has introduced a color-coded shelf tag system.
