Summer Picnics  Back to Events

Warm weather, good friends and a patriotic theme are the only ingredients you need to have a fun summer picnic or neighborhood celebration.

As you plan a patriotic picnic or organize your neighborhood block party, keep safety in mind so everyone enjoys the fun in the sun. Keep food cool when the temperature rises, and don't let perishable items sit out more than one to two hours. Check out other food safety tips. Remember to provide plenty of fluids all day and remind guests to stay hydrated. Also, bring bug spray and a basic first-aid kit with adhesive bandages, antiseptic, aspirin or ibuprofen and other first-aid essentials.

From appetizers to a flag-inspired cake, remember your neighborhood Publix can help with all your food preparations, especially when you're expecting a large crowd.

Menu Made Easy

Here's where we've figured out courses and servings for the party. Scroll down to see the Publix selections we suggest, then add appropriate sizes and/or quantities to your Planning List based on the estimated servings per course (see chart). If you're interested in other options, you may click View All to see everything else available by course. Or, you can use our Plan a Menu tool to build your own menu for the event.

The Perfect Gift Made Easy

Use our new to help you pick the perfect gift card online and put it on your grocery list. Then you can breeze through the aisles and buy just the card you wanted in our store.

  • Mark disposable beverage glasses with each child's name to eliminate shouts of "Is this one mine?" If guests are old enough, have them label and decorate their own cups.
  • Create a scavenger hunt in your neighborhood by having the kids track down easy-to-find items (sticks and leaves) and more difficult objects (different-colored rocks).
