Winter Holidays  Back to Events

You can't go wrong with good friends and food, but help to ensure that everyone has a merry time at your holiday celebration with these ideas:

Dazzle your guests with a simple centerpiece made by lining up pillar candles housed in glass hurricane lamps. Wrap ribbon around the lamps. Or bring the outdoors in with our cranberry centerpiece.

Get your kids in on the decorating action too: Set out a box of nonbreakable decorations they can arrange on their own. Or have them stamp winter designs onto plain tissue paper. For a fun gift swap, use the tissue paper to wrap inexpensive gifts in multiple layers. Have guests sit in a circle. Each person unwraps one layer of paper as a gift is passed around. The person who peels off the last layer of paper gets to keep the present.

Rent a karaoke machine and belt out your favorite winter and holiday tunes. Keep younger guests busy with an activity bin brimming with crafts, games, seasonal videos and toys. For specific decorating and entertainment tips, try our Christmas and Chanukah ideas.

Whether you prefer a formal sit-down dinner or a casual open house, your neighborhood Publix has everything you need for a special celebration.

If you're interested in other options, you may click View All to see everything else available by course. Or, you can use our Plan a Menu tool to build your own menu for the event.

  • Hire a photographer to take formal pictures or give guests disposable cameras to capture informal shots.
  • To make gift-opening a game for everyone, ask the kids to sit in a circle with their gifts. Place a spinner from a board game in the center of the circle and spin it to determine the order in which the birthday child opens gifts.
