Publix's tuition reimbursement program (TRP) was designed to support associates with personal and professional development by increasing their knowledge and skill level. Revisions to the program made on June 1, 2006 increase reimbursement limits. No longer a benefit for only traditional, degree-seeking students, the program now covers some individual courses, online programs, technical training, undergraduate and graduate degrees.
Unlike many companies, Publix does not limit participation to full-time associates. Any associate with six months of continuous service who works an average of 10 hours a week is eligible to participate with their managers' approval.
Individual courses - Any class that directly affects your ability to perform your current job (including courses teaching Spanish or English as a second language).
Occupational or technical programs - Any program that directly affects your ability to perform your current job, prepares you to perform a future role within your current business area, provides a required or preferred certification for your current job or established career path1, or meets a business need.
Undergraduate program - The following majors are approved for inclusion in the Tuition Reimbursement Program:Accounting Business Administration Business Management Computer Engineering Computer Network Services |
Computer Programming Computer Science Economics Finance Human Resources |
Industrial Engineering Information Technology Management Information Systems Marketing Pre-Pharmacy |
Other majors may also be approved if related to an associate's current position or established career path1.
All courses must be taken at a regionally accredited college or through an occupational or technical program approved by Publix.
Tuition reimbursement limits are provided in the chart below.
| Annual calendar limit | Maximum limit | |
| Individual course program, occupational/technical program or undergraduate program while attending a two-year school/community college* | $1,250 | $2,500 |
| College/university | $2,250 | $9,000 |
Reimbursement for graduate degrees is also available, although eligibility and participation requirements are more extensive. Graduate degrees require vice president approval, and they must be based on an associate's current position or established career path.
If you are a current associate and you would like to apply or get more information, please ask your Administrative Coordinator or Department Manager. Prospective employees and current associates can call (863) 688-1188 ext. 54250, or send an e-mail to TuitionReimbursement@publix.com.
1We have defined “established career path” as the natural progression for an associate within his or her current business area.

I always enjoy telling people how my job at Publix turned into a career. Six years ago, Publix opened a new store near my house, and initially it seemed like a good place for a high school student to earn some spending money. I knew Publix had a reputation for clean stores, excellent customer service, and great sub sandwiches, but never did I imagine that Publix would provide me with endless career opportunities.
I started as a Cashier but quickly gained interest in other positions in the store. From Bakery Clerk to Office Cashier and Office Staff, Publix continually opened doors for me. I also became a Centralized Orientation Facilitator where I could share the aspect of Publix I love the most-the opportunities. After three years in Retail, I seized the opportunities I told the new associates about and accepted a position in the Atlanta Produce Warehouse. Other opportunities arose over the years, and I now oversee Warehouse Systems Support associates for two of our perishable warehouses.
With each opportunity, I learn more about the amazing things Publix does everyday to ensure we achieve our mission of being the premier quality food retailer in the world. Outside of work, Publix helps me pursue my education through our Tuition Reimbursement Program. It's a win-win situation. I improve my knowledge and skills and Publix gets a better educated associate. As I get closer to graduating with my Bachelor of Business Administration degree, I look forward to the next opportunity that Publix provides me.
