The career I have built at Publix for the past 20 years has been amazing. A young, single mother of two small children, I found myself looking for a job with a reputable company. Publix makes its associates a priority, which allowed me to work my schedule around my children’s schooling and activities. As a cashier I was able to work in a pleasant environment where I could serve our customers.

Eventually I moved to an office position, first at the Customer Service counter and later in the back office. Being in a position to help both our customers and other associates was an extremely positive experience for me.

With the support of management, I transferred into the pharmacy and became a certified pharmacy technician. Now I am a meaningful part of our customers’ everyday lives. Getting to know them on such a personal level makes my job that much more satisfying.

I have made some truly wonderful friends and acquaintances in my time at Publix. Some have become like family to me. They have supported me in times of personal grief and have congratulated me in times of triumph. In short, working for Publix has been an extremely wonderful experience.

At the age of five, going door to door selling Rose Bud and Cloverine Salve to neighbors and friends, little did I know that the groundwork was being laid for my career as a pharmacist. Listening to their concerns about aches and pains, giving a smile or hug and saying, "Let me know if you need anything more," taught me patience and understanding of others.

Fulfilling my parents’ dream for one of five sons to obtain a college degree, I achieved that goal in 1969 from the University of Florida, College of Pharmacy. Years of working in my own pharmacy then taught me customer service and the satisfaction of going that extra mile – whether it be lending a listening ear, sharing a simple smile, going in a few minutes early or staying late, delivering prescriptions to invalid patients who cannot drive, and yes, even returning to the pharmacy after closing to give that much needed prescription.

Publix has allowed me to continue those early-learned values of concern and caring for people. In working for Publix, I have found that doing whatever it takes to help someone, be it customer or employee, is the PUBLIX WAY. Thank you to my parents and Publix for allowing me to serve others.

I started at Publix as a clean-up boy in the meat department when I was 19 years old. I knew right away that I wanted to make the meat department my living. I enjoyed the atmosphere. It was hard work, but when you love what you do it’s not work at all. I’ve been a Meat Manager now for 10 years, and I was right. This is where I belong!

What keeps me going is being able to train and develop other associates, being a positive influence on their careers and helping them advance at Publix. I cherish this opportunity so much. When I retire I will be able to look back and know that I helped others, like so many had helped me.

I plan to stay with Publix for a long time to come. I may even work to become an Assistant Store Manager.

Another wonderful benefit of having worked for Publix is that I met my beautiful wife here. So I thank Publix for what I have, not only in material assets but in family too.

Yes, I worked hard to get where I am today, but you have to thank a company for recognizing your potential and giving you the opportunity to grow.

My decision to join Publix was easy. I had known the people who worked here from having shopped at Publix.  The team seemed very concerned for customers and at the same time displayed an attitude of enjoying what they were doing. I also knew that Publix had great opportunities for growth.  Even so I was surprised that the entire management team at my store was so glad to work with me and other associates when we needed assistance.

I’m in my first year with Publix, but my goal is to someday go into management; perhaps eventually even as Store Manager. In the meantime, I love what I do now because I enjoy assisting customers with the finest customer service available in the prepared foods industry. 

I also am excited about what I learn from my co-workers, but I had already learned a lot about food and cooking from my Mother and husband. Being one of the oldest of 13 children growing up, I helped, learned and eventually prepared some of the meals for my family. I then married a Chef, and for 29 years learned the trade and many delicious recipes from him.

I hope Publix continues to expand the Prepared Foods setting for our customers in the future. I’m glad to be part of the first store to try this concept in a big way.

I have been employed with Publix for 32 years and have worked with some associates for many years. We have shared stories of our children, the birth of our grandchildren, and the loss of our loved ones. I have friends at Publix that I can talk to about anything.

The Associates here are always willing to help each other, whether it’s with a personal problem or something to do with the job. The managers here treat you with respect, dignity and understanding, and they always thank you for what you do.

Just as important the customers that shop in our stores become our friends as well. You get to share in seeing their children and grandchildren grow up. This also makes them feel like they too are part of our Publix family.

I’ve been asked many times if it really is a “Pleasure” to work at Publix.  I can honestly say, “Absolutely!!!”

I love working at Publix because this is my second family.  It makes me proud when people ask me where I work.  I proudly say, “I work for Publix.”   One of the reasons I’m glad that I was chosen to join the Publix family is because employees own the company, so it’s like working for myself.  You go the extra mile because you’re part of something special.  That is what makes Publix different from other employers.

Publix has a very positive influence on the communities we serve.  For instance I remember when Hurricane Jeanne hit Polk County.  The power was out for up to four days in parts of Winter Haven.  The neighborhood Publix provided fried chicken so that people could have a hot meal.  It’s things like this that make me proud to be part of the Publix family.

I am a Deli Manager, and I say that with great pride. I love working at the Publix Deli. It is very challenging, and I tackle each challenge with enthusiasm. I see everything as a growing experience. You get to meet people from all walks of life and learn new things about them.

There is always something going on, whether a party for graduation, a bar mitzvah, a first communion, a baptism – for any holiday gathering, and we are there and involved. I enjoy being able to help make someone's special day.

Teamwork is so important to be successful, and we really have that here at Publix. I am proud of my co-workers and managers because we always pull together to get the job done. I love interacting with our customers. You just never know how a simple smile and a, "Hi, how are you today" can brighten someone's day. I feel that every customer I deal with leaves a little brighter than when they came in.

I came to work for Publix in 1980 because of its reputation as a great place to work.  I continue to stay for the same reason.  I started as a bagboy, or what we now call a Front Service Clerk.  I worked in several hourly positions throughout the store before being promoted to Second Assistant Manager, Assistant Store Manager and in 1992 as Store Manager.  I was promoted to District Manager in 1999.

My future with Publix is a very bright one.  I really appreciate that I’m with a great organization that’s solid as a rock and continues to outpace industry norms as far as sales, profits and store growth are concerned.

We probably could make even more money if the company wasn’t so open and honest in its business practices, but that would only hurt us in the long term.  Publix has never taken a short-sighted approach.  We’ve always tried to do what’s best for customers, vendors and associates.

I love this industry because of the job security.  It’s practically recession proof because everyone has to eat.  What I love most is working with Publix people.  I thoroughly enjoy seeing associates achieve the goals they set out to achieve, knowing that you played a part in helping them reach those goals. 

Never forget where you came from, but always know where you’re going!

I came to Publix in 1988 just looking for a part-time job.  I did not know all of the opportunities  Publix offered until my Store Manager invested his time speaking with me about my potential future with this company.  Just two years later I found myself in a position that helped me to move into a management role.

The one thing I noticed from the beginning was the camaraderie among all of the associates within my store.  From the Store Manager to the Front Service Clerk, there was a sense of trust, appreciation and value.

Publix has great leadership that coaches, mentors and provides all of the tools necessary for success.  I just took advantage of the tools provided to me and applied myself everyday.  Today I am a District Manager.  Now I have the opportunity to pass on these same core values that someone took the time to pass on to me.

I love working with the people and look forward to serving the associates at Publix for years to come.

Before I ever worked for Publix I knew the company had a great reputation, even though I might not have known exactly why. The more I learned about the company, the more I wanted to be a part of it. When I graduated pharmacy school in 2001, I set my sights directly on Publix and accepted a position as a floating pharmacist.

The more time I spent with Publix, the more I came to understand and appreciate all that the company has to offer. This is a company that truly understands that its greatest asset is its culture. Publix culture is not manifested as some repeated phrase or cherished stone tablet. The culture is embodied in the associates.

You will notice very quickly that we are not "employees." Being a private company, we are associates and owners whether in the stores, manufacturing, or support staff. There is a definite sense of ownership present at all levels of the company. This results in an environment where associates are empowered and encouraged to make a difference.

Despite a very competitive marketplace, Publix continues to expand and succeed, never losing focus of our mission. Continued expansion and innovation provides limitless opportunities for professional growth and advancement. I always enjoy looking back on my career with Publix, but that is not nearly as exciting as looking forward at my future with Publix.

In high school I knew that I wanted to work for Publix because the manager at the neighborhood store knew everyone that walked in the door. I was always so impressed with that. He hired me at 15 years old as a Front Service Clerk. Now that manager visits me at MY store.

In the early part of my career with Publix, I always thought it would be “just a job.”  Still I took great pride in my work, and enjoyed the competition with the other young associates as we worked side by side. We would race to see who could stock shelves the fastest and the neatest. It is great to see so many of those I raced against then are now Store Managers.

At Publix you can be anything that you want to be. The sky is the limit!

I began my Publix career in 1984 as a bag boy.  What I noticed right off was the way my managers cared for their associates.  It was like we all had a second family.

I was able to witness this first hand.  In 1994 my first child was born with four major heart defects.  He was so ill that we had to take him to Boston for nine weeks.  I was an Assistant Store Manager at the time, so I of course was concerned about the time I would be away.  My Store Manager and my District Manager were so supportive.  They never asked me when I was coming back to work.  Their only concern was that I was there for my family. 

I was also concerned financially since I was gone from work for such a long period of time.  Again Publix came through.  An account was started for my son and more than $4,000 was raised by Publix associates, some of whom I had never met.  To this day, I still have associates ask how my son is doing. 

Publix is and always will be a great place to work because of its associates. 

The variety of career opportunities at Publix is one of the great reasons for working here.  I came to Publix after working for 10 years in a competitor's stores.  My first job was on the production line at the Deli Plant.

Rather than being locked into that area, I was allowed to grow and post into other positions that interested me.  Eventually I moved to the Logistics Department.  I became a Category Analyst before being promoted to Buyer in 2005.

Publix also encouraged and assisted me in furthering my education, another reward for working with such a great company!

Although I took a somewhat varied path to my current position, Publix afforded me the job stability that is appreciated in today's ever-changing business environment.  At the same time, the retirement programs help give me a sense of security for the future as well.

The real difference for me is that working for Publix is not a job; it’s a rewarding career with a future.

Before I joined Publix, I thought about what type of company I wanted to work for. Certain things were very important to me. I wanted to work for a company that has high standards of integrity and that truly cares about its associates. I wanted to work for a company where associates are involved in decisions and can really make a difference. I wanted to work for a company that offers opportunities for career advancement and invests in associates' future. Publix is that company.

Right from the start, I really loved working at Publix. Now, almost 15 years later, I am so thankful that I am still a part of this organization. Publix is filled with associates who have had long enriching careers. I often wondered why people would stay with one organization for so long. And then, after really getting to know the people that are here and seeing firsthand how much Publix values its associates, I understand. Publix is very special. It is more than just a company. It is a family.

Although I only joined Publix as an attorney in 2006, I became a loyal Publix customer at a very young age. As a child, I always looked forward to my Saturday visits to Store #96 in Clearwater, FL. As a reward for good behavior, my brother, sister and I were allowed to collectively select a dozen donuts and one piece of candy each Saturday morning. True to the Publix way, the Publix associates were always smiling, friendly and helpful - one even asked me to be a flower girl in her wedding! This comes as no surprise to me now, knowing that Publix customers consistently rate their satisfaction with us the highest in the supermarket industry. Little did I know that one day the path of my career would lead to Publix.

After graduating from law school and practicing law for four years, I was honored to have the opportunity to join the Publix family. As an attorney for Publix, I enjoy a varied practice, primarily supporting the real estate department, working on sophisticated acquisitions, liquor regulatory matters as well as negotiating/drafting leases and declarations. In the time I have been with Publix, I have had the pleasure of working beside the brightest, most supportive and hardest working people of my career. That alone makes me excited and proud to come to work every morning. All in all, I could not imagine a more interesting and satisfying job and could not be more proud to work for and be part owner of such an extraordinary company.

When I moved to Florida, I knew nothing about Publix.  When I began shopping there, I found clean stores and friendly, knowledgeable help.  That inspired me to apply at Publix, especially since I knew the corporate office wasn’t far from where I lived.  I was hired as a Clerk II in Accounts Payable, was promoted to Secretary II for a Regional Director, and now am Office Manager and Assistant to a Vice President where I handle administrative duties for our Fresh Products area.  That includes managing Hourly Support 3 associates and coordinating the efforts of the Business Development Director assistants.

Publix lives up to its Mission Statement of being “Dedicated to the Dignity, Value and Employment Security of their Associates.”  I especially like that we promote from within and help develop our associates to succeed.  I have always been treated with the utmost respect and dignity.  Each day I am thanked for my time!

After 18 years I still enjoy coming to work every day, and am truly grateful that Publix allowed me to be part of their family!  I am always eager and proud to say, “I work for Publix.”

I began my career with Publix 23 years ago in the vegetable prep area at the Deli Plant.  Since then I worked in a variety of departments from a shipping clerk to the Assistant to the Vice President of the Lakeland Division and now the 401(k) & Customer Service Supervisor in the Retirement area of Benefits.  When I joined the Publix team I didn’t realize the endless opportunities ahead, not to mention the tremendous benefits available to associates. 

One of the many benefits is our awesome retirement plan. Each year when I open my Benefits Statement, I can’t help but throw up my hands and yell, “Now that’s what I’m talkin’ about!”  All kidding aside, being part of Publix gives me a great sense of pride. 

The most important benefit to me though, is the security I feel working for such a great organization.  In my early years, I was able to support my daughter as a single mom and provide her with a home and a good, stable lifestyle.  I was never worried about her healthcare because Publix offered such an outstanding insurance plan. 

The opportunities are unlimited at Publix and even if you don’t have a specific career path, that’s okay; Publix has a way of putting you exactly where you need to be.  I’m living proof.

There are a lot of places to “work” but at Publix, you’re part of the Family.  As a shareholder, you’re also an owner.  There aren’t many places that offer this benefit.  Simply stated, Publix is a GREAT place to work!

I came to Publix in September of 1999, joining the Human Resources Department at our Corporate Office. I started as a clerk with the Selections Systems team, then in 2004 moved to the Associate Relations team as the Administrative Assistant. That team helps answer all kinds of questions that our associates have about their employment at Publix.

I love the fact that my job is never dull or boring, that I get to help people, and that I work on such a variety of assignments from day to day. I also love the fact that I have continual opportunities to learn new tasks. I've had the good fortune to work with a lot of people by participating on many different teams and planning committees. My favorite responsibility is being the Chair Person for the Take Our Children to Work Day events here at Publix's Corporate Office.

I also enjoy the flexibility that I have with my schedule and the fact that I am working for a company that is financially stable. This is a great place to work.

Growing up, I loved shopping with my mom and grandma at our local Publix. The associates were always so friendly and some even took the time to learn our names. When it was time for me to get a part-time summer job, I told my parents the only place I would work was Publix. Fortunately, I was hired at the store my family loved so much and, now years later, I'm still with this wonderful company.

Over the years, I've held several different positions in both retail and support. Currently, I'm a Business Consultant in the Business Analysis & Reporting group providing financial support to our Real Estate department. One of the things I love about my job is that I know where Publix is heading in the future. It's interesting to see, firsthand, where the next Publix store is going to be, the new markets we're entering, and the shopping centers we're acquiring and building.

People find it hard to believe that I've only worked for one company, but why would I leave when I'm working for the best? I love Publix for the feeling of family, the job security, and for the company ownership. During my career at Publix, I've developed lifelong friendships and most importantly, I met the man I would marry.

When I go home to visit my parents and I walk into the store where my Publix journey began, it's amazing to see some of the faces I saw when I was a child. If that doesn't speak volumes, I don't know what does. Publix is where working is a pleasure!

I came to Publix twelve years ago, joining the Consumer Care team at our corporate headquarters. My family and I had just moved from the Bronx in New York to Lakeland.

I found a new career when I came to Publix, and a new family. I have been amazed and grateful for the support my co-workers have offered in times of need.

As a Customer Care Agent, I read customers' emails and speak with them when they contact us with their questions, suggestions, compliments or complaints. I love helping people, and I think I have made a contribution to Publix as well as to the lives of our customers.

Due to my Hispanic heritage, I speak Spanish. That means I am able to help customers who speak English or Spanish. Every customer has a different comment. I'm surprised how many compliments our company and our associates get. In reading and talking with our customers, I find many who have relocated to the South like my family did. That makes my job interesting!

I started my journey with Publix in 1984 as a part-time Deli Clerk. Publix was flexible with my schedule as I worked my way through college. After graduation I wanted to find a "real" job, but what I was looking for was right in my own back yard. I was already associated with one of the finest organizations in the industry and one of the best decisions I ever made was to continue working at Publix.

I stayed in the retail environment for 15 years in various management positions. That included traveling to two other states to open new markets for Publix, an exciting opportunity. I thoroughly enjoyed sharing Publix culture with new associates.

The early lessons that I experienced while taking care of customers and helping my associates, prepared me well for my transition to Corporate Purchasing. I have been in the corporate office for 10 years.  In my current position as Director of Labor Forecasting and Scheduling, I work across all retail departments on cutting edge technology that will optimize retail associates’ schedules.

As I have progressed through various positions at corporate, I continue to realize an important part of our company's success is our stock ownership program. It exemplifies something that was once said to me: “You take better care of something if you own it." This ownership is alive and in every associate that works for Publix  today, and I am proud to be a part of it.

When I was a 16-year old cashier, I never envisioned a career at Publix. My goals were more short-term and related to helping finance my college tuition. Along the way several Publix associates mentored me and explained the opportunities available here. This included our tuition reimbursement program, which convinced me to stay with Publix after high school graduation and during college.

Then my Store Manager and a close family friend (a retired Publix Store Manager) encouraged me to visit the Marketing Department in Lakeland. During that visit I met many Publix associates with stories of how they began their career just as I did.

Upon earning my advertising degree, I was hired into an entry level position in the Marketing Department. Now 16 years later, I am the Director of Marketing Research. I’m able to do the work I enjoy doing while working for a company I believe in….and one that has believed in me.

My years working in our stores and through various positions within Marketing have shaped who I am today. Just as so many did for me, I try to mentor other young associates and encourage them to continue their career at Publix.

Like many I began my career with Publix as a part-time summer job.  At the age of 14, I had no idea about all the opportunities available to me as a Publix associate.  I continued to work here through high school and then through college because of how flexible my work schedule could be.  I could attend classes and continue to earn money to pay for books, car expenses and food.

I was fortunate to have a store manager who took the time to mentor me and open my eyes to a whole new world of opportunities.  When I thought of Publix I thought of our stores, but he helped me realize there were many career possibilities in our Corporate office.

As Director of Media and Community Relations, one of the best parts of my job is to mentor at-risk high school students.  During the mentoring sessions, most of the students say they want to be doctors and lawyers when they grow up.  It’s always exciting to see their faces when I tell them about our risk management department and our legal team.  It’s part of the pleasure to tell them the endless possibilities that can come from starting work in a grocery store.

I love my job at Publix.  There’s no place else I can ever imagine working. We all work together to make a difference!

In 1994 I had just earned my Master’s degree and began looking for opportunities to further my career when a friend suggested I check out Publix.  My research told me that Publix was a great place to work – a family-friendly organization with a long history of growth.  I applied and was hired as an Engineer in our Manufacturing division.

Throughout my career at Publix I’ve held several roles in different departments.  In each role I was surrounded by leaders who showed that they cared about my success by helping me to learn and grow, and they always thanked me for my efforts.  Through the help of my fellow associates now I’ve become one of our leaders, and I’ll get to continue the Publix tradition of helping others to succeed.

I fondly remember going to Publix every Saturday as a child with my mom. While attending graduate school in 1992, I took a summer job working for Publix in the Accounting Department. I never imagined the wonderful people I would meet at Publix and the bonds we would form over the years. I absolutely love being a part of the Publix Family!

I started working for Publix in 2001, and still remember my first day.  I was scared, nervous and unsure if I had made the right decision to leave my last job; all of the things that any normal person would think about.  I had been with a major retail department store chain for almost 10 years before joining Publix, but it took only one day to realize that this is a family, not just a workplace.

In 2006 I was promoted to my current position as the Divisional Loss Prevention Manager for the Miami Division.  My 12 years of service here are short compared to many Publix associates who have been here more than 20 years.

When you get up every morning and go to work, are you going someplace that you can’t wait for the end of the day to come, or someplace that the day goes by too quickly?  I think we spend most of our lives thinking that “the grass is greener on the other side,” and sometimes we are disappointed because we find that is not true.  However, the grass was greener for me at Publix and I believe that would be the same for you.

At Publix we take pride in treating each other with dignity and respect, and it’s a great feeling.  One of my responsibilities is to protect the assets of Publix, including our associates, My Family!

Shopping has always been a pleasure for me; Publix was my store of choice prior to my becoming an associate. As a Publix customer, I experienced first hand the excellent customer service provided by store associates.

One thing that stands out for me since joining Publix is that the same customer service philosophy is evident throughout the entire organization. Working in the employment office, I have the opportunity to experience the excitement and enthusiasm of newly-hired Publix associates on a daily basis.

At Publix you are valued as an associate, and treated like family. Publix gives me the chance to interact with a highly diverse workforce, share ideas, and most of all feel like I am an integral part of the Publix team.

Making the career choice to join the Publix team was the right decision. I have thoroughly enjoyed the time I have been with Publix, and am looking forward to many long years of service.

I began my career at Publix as an Industrial Engineer.  Previously I had lived my entire life in New York and had no familiarity with Publix or its history, culture and values.  Nonetheless Publix gave me a chance when they hired me in 2000.

Later that year I became unexpectedly and critically ill.  Confined to a wheelchair, and in and out of hospitals, I missed a few months of work. With friends and family more than 1,500 miles away, life took a challenging turn for me.

That's when Publix showed me what it's all about.  My department took up collections.  My co-workers helped me with errands and provided dinners.  While on bed rest, they even sent me "Scott's Office in a Box," a box filled with goodies, Blockbuster cards and notes from the group.  Little did I realize Publix was becoming another family to me.

Since then Publix has consistently shown its faith and trust in me and my abilities by giving me added responsibilities and frequent promotions.  No doubt Publix’s leadership position in the industry, its growth potential and the challenging projects we work on are all exciting reasons to be thankful for being a member of this company.  But it’s the personal touch that makes this place even more special.  My experience shows that Publix can take a complete outsider and adopt him as one of its own – that’s why Publix will always be "A Great Place to Work!"

In the summer of 1980, I started as a part-time associate in the Housewares warehouse, viewing Publix as a temporary means to a greater end. No way did I intend to become a "Publix lifer."

However, 12 years later I found myself still employed with Publix after being promoted to the position of Quality Improvement Facilitator in the Lakeland Dairy Processing Plant. During this period in my personal life, I didn't always make the best decisions which resulted in a lot of emotional pain and financial distress. Luckily, at the time, I worked for a Plant Manager who not only cared about me as his associate but made me feel as if I was a member of his own family.

He was a hard business man with extremely high expectations. Yet, he realized the importance of the human side of the equation as well. At the end of the each work day, he always took the time to talk to me about life outside of Publix. He knew when to question and he knew when to let me talk. Most importantly, he knew how to let me figure it out on my own.

It was during this time that I realized what this company is all about. Publix is not in the grocery business....Publix is in the business of taking care of people. That's why 33 years later I'm glad to say that I'm still employed by Publix Super Markets.

I had always been envious of individuals fortunate enough to work for Publix. I thought it was great that Publix shared its profits with its associates, valuing them enough to make them owners in the company.

I heard the stories about Mr. George’s philosophy for taking care of his associates. You see, having worked in benefits most of my career, I understand the value of company ownership and how rare it is in today’s world. As my retirement plan was being replaced by a 401(k) with a minimal match, I hoped that someday I too would have an opportunity to work for Publix. 

That opportunity came in 2001 when I was hired to work for Publix as Manager of Group Benefits. Later I was promoted to Project Manager and then to my current position of Manager of Projects for Benefits Administration, where I am responsible for leading the activities of strategic and benefits-critical project management initiatives; technical support and education, training and development functions for the benefits business area including Retirement, Group Benefits and Stockholder Services departments.  I also work with outside vendors, consultants and other benefit professionals, and I hear all the time how envious they are because they know Publix is such a great place to work. 

Now rather than being envious, I’m the one who can say how truly proud I am to be part of this great organization. 

I guess you could say I’ve never known life without Publix.  I was two years old when my father started his career with Publix as a stock clerk.  He retired 25 years later as a store manager.  My career with Publix started when I was 14 years old as a part-time cashier in Naples, FL.  Now 34 years later I find myself in the position of Marketing Information Systems Manager.

Throughout my career, Publix has given me the opportunity to participate in numerous projects associated with technology.  I ended up in Marketing in 1990 first as a Business Analyst, and now as the person overseeing systems that support analysis and reporting in the department.

The best thing about Publix is the people.  It’s a second family to me.  I have the opportunity to study with some of the most respected and intelligent leaders and associates within Publix and across the industry.

I also met my husband Danny here.  Because of Publix’s enviable stock program and his 24 years with the company, Danny was able to retire from Publix to pursue a full-time career as a commercial photographer.  Today our two college-age children work for Publix where they enjoy the same benefits, including tuition reimbursement.

I began my career at Publix more than 12 years ago at the recommendation of a Publix Vice President. From the very beginning, Publix has provided me with an environment filled with knowledgeable, positive, focused associates working together to help me succeed.

Publix has always been a part of me.  Even as a child, my parents and grandparents always shopped at Publix, and I would get so excited to go along.  I started my career with Publix more than 20 years ago and have many more wonderful years to come.

At Publix there are so many departments to choose from.  I have worked in several  positions within Publix, and I truly can say that I have enjoyed each and every one of them.  I have packed fruit in the Produce Distribution Center, served as a Retail and Corporate Training Coordinator, and now I'm a member of the Media & Community Relations team.  Each position taught me so much.  Most of all, it is great working for a Fortune 500 company.

Contributing to the Media & Community Relations team is really rewarding because I see how much Publix cares about the community.  We support many organizations such as United Way; Children’s Miracle Network, Susan G. Komen Foundation and Special Olympics.  It’s a great feeling knowing that we are able to give back to the community in so many different ways.

Working for Publix Super Markets is a great pleasure.

It clicked!  I remember that day so vividly. There it was before me, a piece of paper on the floor that I would have passed up previously, but now felt was my responsibility to pick up. Our manager had recently spoken to us about ownership. “You are stockholders, you own this company,” he told us. From that day forward I would treat this job as if I owned the company. And I do!

We are the largest employee-owned supermarket chain in the nation.  I work in Facility Services, the department responsible for keeping our retail stores maintained, clean and inviting; upholding the Publix tradition. As I reflect on my 30 years with Publix, I'm amazed at what a wonderful and exciting company this is. From my start as a part-time bagger to my current role as President, I'm just one of thousands with a personal story about making Publix a lifetime career.

I began my career with Publix as a part-time Cashier 26 years ago.  Now I’m a Procurement Manager in Facilities Purchasing where I work with many great people in all areas of the company and get involved in fun, exciting projects.

After graduating from Florida Southern College, I knew I wanted to work for a company that held my personal values and ideals.  My list was short; Publix was that company.

I went to work in a store and proceeded on to the micro lab at the Deli Kitchen, and from there I was promoted to a management position with our Corporate Quality Assurance department.

My career at Publix began after being a stay-at-home Mom for many years. Moving to Lakeland where the Publix corporate office is located provided me an opportunity to seek employment with a well-respected company. As a Real Estate Manager, I am responsible for identifying new Publix locations for the west coast of Florida. It’s very rewarding to be part of the Real Estate Department because it is so instrumental to the company’s growth and success. Early in my career, Publix was only operating in Florida. We have since expanded into Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee. The expansion of our company into these markets is exciting and positions us well for future growth.

In 1990, I had just graduated from the University of Bucharest in Romania with a degree in Biochemistry. Later that year I found myself in Ft. Lauderdale, FL with a dream, the American dream! As it turns out, Publix played an important role in helping me achieve this dream by providing me the opportunities.

During my years of employment with Publix, I have had the opportunity to work in many different areas. I worked in the stores and manufacturing plants earlier in my career, and transitioned to the Business Analysis & Reporting (BAR) department more recently. Publix encourages its associates to work in areas that best match their strengths and experience, as well as what interests them. Through Publix's tuition reimbursement program, I was able to earn an MBA, which strengthened my qualifications and enabled me to apply for a position in BAR – a department I admired.

I have been working in BAR for about five years and the fast-paced environment and the opportunities to learn more every day are the reasons why for me, Publix is the place where my dreams came true!

After completing law school and watching many of my friends frustrated by the high pressure and long hours of work at law firms, I knew that was not for me.  So I looked for a company where I could have a challenging legal career, but still lead a balanced life.  I found exactly that and more at Publix. 

I draft and negotiate contracts for all aspects of our operations including purchasing, marketing, manufacturing, retail, information systems, facilities and much more.  I am able to work on such a wide variety of projects, that every day brings something more fascinating than the day before. 

In my seven years with Publix, I have worked with some of the most passionate, hard working and interesting people that I have ever met.  More importantly they have become my friends, my family and my community. The flexibility, camaraderie and support that I have felt from both my peers and management is a true testimonial to the wonderful environment at Publix.  I could not have imagined a more interesting, fun and satisfying job. 

My Publix career was inspired the moment I walked into a college recruiting event at the Publix cooking school in Tampa. I was a member of Beta Alpha Psi, an honors accounting organization at the University of South Florida. Publix was hosting a social for Beta members as an opportunity to learn about accounting and finance careers with Publix. At that social I was fortunate enough to chat with Gino DiGrazia (Vice President of Finance) and his wife, Kim. I also met Frank Maggio (Senior Manager of Business Analysis and Reporting) who asked me what I would like to do when I graduated from USF with my accounting degree. My response was, "work for Publix!" I explained how I didn't want to go into the audit or tax fields, but I actually wanted to prepare a company's financial statements and that Publix seemed like the perfect place. A short time later, I was called in for an interview and began my career with Publix soon after graduating from USF.

Now I have been with Publix for several years, and I am currently a Senior Business Analyst on the Financial Reporting team in Business Analysis & Reporting. I am responsible for the accounting and reporting for our investment portfolio and coordinating the monthly, quarterly and annual general ledger closing process. Most importantly, I get to prepare Publix's financial statements, exactly what I said I wanted to do at the social event five years ago. I am very thankful that I am able to go to work every day loving what I do, who I work with, and the company I work for.

I always enjoy it when people ask me what I do. I respond with a smile and say, "I do financial reporting for Publix." I love bragging about what a wonderful company we have and explaining how working truly is a pleasure at Publix.

I started working for Publix after deciding to make a career change. After working in the restaurant industry for 15 years, I returned to school to get a degree in Accounting, so that I could get a job that would allow me to spend more time with my family. At that time, Publix was starting to build stores where I lived in Atlanta and I was familiar with the company from my visits to Florida. It seemed like the perfect place to get a job. I started out as a front service clerk bagging groceries and was surprised at the number of customers who told me they were so excited to finally have a Publix nearby. Many of my fellow associates were from Homestead, Florida and had moved to Atlanta since they had lost everything during Hurricane Andrew. These comments from customers and fellow workers were early indications that Publix was something special.

Over the next 3 years I worked my way through various positions in the Customer Service and Grocery departments. I also kept working towards completing my degree in Accounting. With about a year of school left, I started looking for a job that would allow me to use my Accounting degree. Of course, I looked at the jobs Publix had available and was fortunate to secure a position in Cost Accounting, the department that would eventually become Business Analysis & Reporting. Today, as a Senior Business Consultant I provide financial consulting and analytical support to the team that is developing and maintaining OASIS, the new scheduling tool that is being used at our retail locations.

In the years I have been working at Corporate, I love that I have had opportunities to grow both personally and professionally. I've had the opportunity to work with a lot of people across the company by participating on many different teams and projects.

I always enjoy telling people how my job at Publix turned into a career. In 2002, Publix opened a new store near my house. Initially, it seemed like a good place for a high school student to earn spending money. I knew Publix had a reputation for clean stores, excellent customer service, and great sub sandwiches, but never did I imagine that Publix would provide me endless career opportunities.

I started as a Cashier and quickly gained interest in other positions around the store. From Bakery Clerk to Office Cashier and Office Staff, Publix continually opened doors for me. I became a Centralized Orientation Facilitator, where I shared the aspect of Publix I love the most—our culture. After three years in Retail, I seized the opportunities I told new associates about and accepted a position in the Atlanta Produce Warehouse. Other opportunities arose over the years, such as providing financial consulting and analytical support to our Retail Business Units. Now, I provide financial support to our Supply Chain team at our corporate headquarters.

With each opportunity, I learn more about the amazing things we do to fulfill our mission of being the premier quality food retailer in the world. Outside of work, Publix has helped me pursue my education through our Tuition Reimbursement Program. It's a win-win situation. I improve my knowledge and skills, and Publix gets a more educated associate. With my Associate's, Bachelor's, and Master's degrees in hand, all with the help of Publix, I look forward to the next opportunity that Publix provides me.

My career at Publix began while I was a student at the University of Florida. Like many college students, I needed a part time job with flexibility and Publix was the perfect fit. When I started with Publix, I didn't realize the vast amount of career opportunities that would be available to me.

The summer before graduation, I continued to work part-time at Publix while also completing internships with financial planning companies. Through what I learned with the finance courses I took in college and the experience I gained during my summer internships, I found that I enjoyed financial consulting and analysis.

After graduation, my store manager printed out a job posting for a Business Analyst position and explained how he thought that the job seemed to be a good fit for me. He also thought that it would be a great opportunity for future growth within Publix. He was familiar with this position and department because of his interaction with the Retail Business Analyst who was assigned to his division. Well, that store manager was right because now I am a Senior Business Consultant on the Retail Support team providing financial consulting and analytical support at our Corporate office.

Working at Publix is a rewarding career with a bright future. It is a company that has the utmost integrity and respect in the industry. I look forward to the continuous improvements that our company strives for and the new opportunities that we will encounter in the future. Little did I think when I started with Publix 16 years ago that I would be still working here. It was my first job right out of high school and my first paycheck. My goal at the time was to find a company that could provide flexible hours so I could attend college. I started as a Cashier, moved up to Customer Service, and was then promoted to Back Office Cashier in less than 18 months; and that was while attending college. 

As I started making friends and learning more about the company, I began to realize this was more than a part-time job and that I wanted to build a career at Publix. It is a solid company that provides associate recognition, excellent benefits, a flexible schedule, good training and my favorite – the opportunity to grow.

I really appreciate the promote-from-within philosophy. I had the opportunity to work as a House Wares Clerk, Health and Beauty Clerk, Back Door Receiving Clerk, Training Coordinator, District Trainer and Centralized Orientation Facilitator. When needed I helped make floral arrangements, deli platters and displays for our stores. It’s great to be able to test your own skills and to show what you can do.

In my current position as a Training Specialist for the Miami division, it’s so easy for me to train managers about what Publix is about because I am proud of my company. I feel proud to introduce myself as a Publix associate wherever I go because I always hear, “WOW, that’s a great company!”

I began working at Publix back in February, 2001, mainly to start paying down my student loan debt. I quickly discovered that I didn't want Publix to just be a stepping stone in my career, but I wanted it to be where I made my career. I really value the family-like atmosphere, the strong financial foundation, the unbelievable variety of positions and opportunities for growth, and the obvious commitment to excellence in everything Publix does. The stellar performance of Publix stock doesn't hurt any either!

Another thing I love about Publix is the promote from within philosophy. I started as a clerk on the EFT Accounting team and worked my way up to my current position in the Information Systems Department. I really appreciate Publix's desire to truly invest in the success and growth of its associates. Publix really is a company that succeeds because it focuses on helping each of its associates succeed.

Publix associates are among the most generous people I have ever seen. I can still remember the magical feeling I had when I entered the dining hall in our building to view all of the toys and bikes our department had collected and was donating to the Salvation Army's Angel Tree program. I don't think I had ever seen that many bikes and literally mountains of toys and clothes all in one place before. It was amazing! Being responsible citizens in our communities is more than just a nice component of the mission statement, it's a reality that occurs over and over again.

Whenever anyone asks me where I work, I'm always very proud to say, "Publix!"

Every time my wife and I shopped at Publix, I would always mention that I admired how well Publix ran their business and wondered what it would be like to work for a company listed among the Top 100 Best Places to Work in IT. In 2011, I got the opportunity to become an associate and I haven't looked back since.

One of the reasons I came to Publix was that I was looking for an employer who understood that I wanted a career rather than just a 'job.' Within my first year, my manager had already worked with me on a training and goal-oriented road map to allow me to pursue my long-term career goals.

Working in the Information Technology Department is a thoroughly challenging and rewarding job. Every day, I am working on solutions to make our customer and associate experiences better. In college, what lead me to work in information technology was a desire to constantly learn new things and apply solutions to difficult problems. Working at Publix has truly realized the path I set upon in college by keeping me continually challenged to creatively solve business problems using leading-edge technologies.

In my first year and a half here, I completed diverse technical training and became a project developer. I was even asked to lead one of the projects. That kind of growth opportunity wouldn't be possible at many companies, and I am very grateful for it.

Before I came to Publix, I was running my own web design and development business. I was happy doing that, but I wanted to be involved in bigger projects. I felt the kind of rapid growth that I was looking for, both personally and professionally, would most likely be found at a large company. I know many people who work for Publix and speak very highly of it, including my brother, so it seemed like a perfect fit.

Publix provides employees with both technical and leadership training, and the projects we work on are both interesting and challenging. I have had the pleasure of working with a lot of very sharp and dedicated associates here, including some with more experience who have mentored me along the way. I started working for Publix in December of 2010, and, so far, it has been a fantastic journey. After high school, I was not entirely sure what path I was going to take before Publix came into the picture. My father had been working for Publix for about a year when he told me about the position I currently hold and how it would be a great place to start a career.

I believe that this is one of the best companies to work for because Publix has never had to lay any associates off, even with the struggling economy. One thing that has always separated Publix from our competitors is our outstanding customer service, and I feel very proud to be a part of that. I feel good knowing that by helping to correct technical issues in the stores that I directly help improve the level of service they provide to our customers.

Publix was always the cool place to get a job. I became a cashier when I was 16 years old. I remember everyone telling me I was going to be a "Publix lifer," but I didn't think so. Now almost 15 years later, here I am!

After graduating from high school, I moved to Orlando to go to college and Publix allowed me to transfer. I met my future husband at Publix (one of many Publix love stories!). After we graduated college, we moved to Birmingham for a few years. Once again, Publix helped me transfer to another store. While there, I got promoted to full time Customer Service Staff, then to Assistant Customer Service Manager, and then to Customer Service Manager. Through all the moves, Publix gave me the opportunity to pursue a career.

When my fiancée was offered a job in Lakeland, once again Publix provided me a transfer back to Florida, where we were married and had a baby. After the birth of our daughter, I decided it was time to transfer from the store to corporate. I was sad to leave my customers, my fellow associates, and the world I had known for so long, but I was ready for my new adventure as a supervisor in I/S Customer Support in April 2012.

With all the constant changes in my life, Publix has always been there, flexible and willing to help. It has always put my mind at ease to know I have Publix in my corner to support me through life's transitions.

I first started working as a cashier for Publix during college.  After graduation I transferred to Information Systems as a Help Desk Operator assisting store personnel with system-related problems.  I eventually moved into programming and then into systems analysis.

Through the years Publix has invested in me with technical and professional training to ensure I have everything I need to be successful in my career.  The challenges and the rewards of this environment have made it possible for me to advance from programming to systems analysis and on to IT management.  I never imagined I would enjoy my career so much.  I have experienced so many exciting opportunities with my work, and I am always very proud to say I work for Publix.

After 15 years in Information Systems, I still love working for Publix.  I am grateful for the opportunities I have every day for professional and personal growth.  In addition I work with incredible people that genuinely care about this company, our mission and our customers.

My husband also works for Publix and has been with the company for 30 years.  We are definitely a "Publix" family and appreciate all Publix has done for us.

Approximately 4 years ago, I relocated from Puerto Rico to the Tampa Bay area. One of my goals was to get established and to find a job at a stable and growing company. I was also looking for a company which encourages its associates' professional development and contribution to success. I believe I reached this goal when I joined the Publix team.

Currently, I work as an Information Protection Specialist in the Information Systems Department. As a relatively new associate, I can say that Publix makes sure new team members receive the training and knowledge necessary to be properly introduced to the company.

Technology plays an important role at Publix. I enjoy working in an environment that sees technology as a business enabler and competitive advantage. In the short time I have been with the company, I have had the opportunity to work in projects involving new technology which significantly impact in helping Publix distinguish itself from its competitors.

Before I joined Publix, I was just a customer who preferred Publix over any other grocery retailer. Now, I take pride in being part of the Publix team making sure our systems are secure.

Publix was my very first "official" job. I started out as a Bakery Clerk in 2008 and worked in the bakery for a few years. As a college student, Publix was incredibly supportive of me, about taking into consideration that I had classes to attend, and was accommodating of my schedule.

After I graduated with my Bachelors degree, Publix continued to care about and work with me. In fact, it was my manager who informed me about the career opportunities available in IT at Publix and encouraged me to apply. I'm so happy I did—I love my job!

Not only is programming what I love to do, but I consider the friendly and caring atmosphere, health insurance, stock ownership, retirement plan, and—most importantly—job security offered by Publix, to be priceless benefits.

It's wonderful that Publix offers so many job and career paths for its associates. Publix is genuinely like a family. Just from my experience and all of the support I've been given on my personal path, it's very evident that Publix sincerely values its associates and wants them to succeed.

Publix is a family-oriented company which provides opportunities to many people. I remember as a teenager taking my first job as a bag boy at Publix. That was where I began to learn the value of a dollar and that a job well done comes from accepting responsibility. My managers and supervisors were there to guide me during those formative years. They used evaluations to encourage me and to help me improve my skills.

While away at college studying for a Computer Engineering Degree, I considered different companies where I would like to work. Publix was definitely on my short list. Once I was about to complete my degree, I submitted my application. Through their college hire program, Publix provided me with an opportunity to apply my newly acquired skills in the Information Systems Department. I was assigned to a team of caring and encouraging co-workers, and they warmly welcomed me into the group.

Publix has invested in my life through many different avenues. Since this company is employee-owned, I have been able to purchase stock as a way to reinvest in Publix. Through the provision of ongoing technical training, Publix has enabled me to expand my knowledge base and use it to strive to help the company function more efficiently within the areas that I work.

I am honored to be a part of the Publix team and look forward to many years of service. With its family atmosphere, Publix provides an enjoyable place to work. There will be opportunities to advance within the company, because that's what Publix does. It invests in people.

Arriving from Panama in 1988, I was eager to embark upon the American Dream.  I had a driving ambition to join a great company and build a life-long career.  Seeking out Publix was natural since I’d always been a satisfied customer, and I decided to apply during a recruiting effort at Florida State University.  One week after graduating in 1990, I began working as a Programmer Trainee.  It’s been nearly 19 years since, and an absolute joy.

I’ve held positions such as Programmer Analyst, Senior Programmer Analyst, Systems Analyst/Programmer, Systems Analyst, Project Leader, and in recent years a Single Point Owner (SPO) for key initiatives.  I’ve truly enjoyed contributing to the successful implementation of mission critical applications at Publix.

The best part is the chance to be with the most amazing associates in the world - they always strive for that extra effort.  I experience this daily from every part of the company.  Associates at my neighborhood Publix know me by name and make my shopping experience a pleasure every time.  Recently I approached the seafood department to order a platter, but I was late in ordering - it wouldn’t have been received by Christmas Eve.  That did not get in their way.  They let me know I’d have my platter even if they needed to drive to other stores.

I started my career at Publix in 2003 as a part-time cashier. My Family and I had just moved from Venezuela (South America) to Miramar, Florida.

I came to Publix just looking for a part-time job. The culture, the benefits, and the potential for professional growth and advancement are just amazing. But above all, it is the dedication of our associates which makes Publix a great place to work. I truly believe that this is the best company to make a professional career.

Publix has been part of my life for many years. Knowing what a great company it was, I chose to start out at a Publix store working in the Meat Department. After having the chance to work in several different stores, I soon realized that this was the beginning of a long career. Several years later I was offered the chance to work at the Miami Distribution Center. This experience gave me the chance to meet many more Publix associates who were dedicated to providing the stores the product they needed to stock the shelves and satisfy all of their customers.

I am now a manager in the Deerfield Beach Dispatch Office and work with the warehouse and the stores to ensure the trucks arrive on time. Working for Publix has been a great opportunity to build many relationships and make friends who will remain part of my life forever.

The founder of Publix always believed that if the company took care of the associates, in turn the associates would take care of the customers. This has been a belief that I have not only realized myself, but have seen its effects on scores of other veteran associates.

I love working with the associates that I come in contact with and look forward to carrying on this dedication and commitment at Publix for years to come.

I am very proud to say that I have worked for Publix for 24 years! I was 17 years old and had just graduated from Auburndale High School when my uncle, who already worked for Publix, encouraged me to get a job at the Bakery Plant. I was just looking for something until I decided what I wanted to do with my life. Little did I know that my temporary job was the beginning of a fantastic and rewarding career.

I began as temporary Christmas help, and was hired fulltime as soon as I turned 18. I worked the night shift for several years and had the opportunity to become a Machine Operator on a variety of equipment. I eventually earned a promotion to Line Leader and then Foreman. 

The time I spent working night shift was a challenge, but it also gave me my first glimpse of how dedicated Publix associates are. I was utterly amazed that people worked all night to bake and pack sweets and desserts for all the Publix stores!

After 10 years with this incredible company, I  accepted the position of Department Manager. In 2006, I was promoted to Senior Department Manager, which is the position I currently hold.

I’m living proof of the opportunities that Publix offers its associates. The first thing I tell my new associates at orientation is that with initiative, hard work and dedication, you can go anywhere you want in Publix.

I feel very lucky to be a Publix associate. I started at the Boynton Distribution Center in November 1989. I remember working with the associates in the office who already had ten years of service and thought there was no way I was ever going to be employed in one job for that long. Of course, that was almost 23 years ago.

In 1995, I transferred to the Orlando Distribution Center which brought new opportunities for me because we had just opened a new High Velocity and Boxed Meat/Dairy department. Since I had spent most of my career with Publix as an Inventory Control Coordinator, being able to experience the different warehouses and learn new departments and processes only strengthened my skill set.

Even more great news came in 2005 when Publix decided to add the pharmaceutical distribution warehouse to better service our stores. It was opened at the Orlando Distribution Center allowing me more opportunity to learn and grow.

In 2011, I decided to apply with the state to become a Certified Designated Representative. I passed the test and was accepted by the state, which was a very meaningful personal accomplishment. This also led me to my most recent career move as the Compliance & Regulatory Manager for the Orlando Pharmacy Distribution Center. Mr. George once said "Publix is like a smorgasbord, with opportunity spread out for you. Prepare yourself; the opportunities are up for grabs." This has been so true in my career and is why I love working at Publix.

I am very proud to say that I have worked at Publix's Jacksonville Distribution Center for 13 years. When I began my career in 1998, I viewed my warehouse sanitation position as just another job. But as I started to learn more about Publix and all of its opportunities, I put a plan in place to build my career. I made a conscious effort to work in various positions and departments to enhance my skills and gain experience, with my end goal being to obtain a position in management.

I took advantage of Jacksonville's Career Counselor Program. Over the course of the program, knowledgeable and thoughtful managers mentored, educated and showed me that Publix was really about treating each other like "family." My counselor also told me during a session to "put yourself in a place to be successful." After 13 years I am convinced that Publix is my place. I truly believe that we play a vital role in executing Publix's strategy by committing ourselves to our mission. The family atmosphere and the commitment to our associates are some of the many reasons Why I Love Publix!

I came to work for Publix in 1980 as part of the start-up team for the first Dairy Manufacturing Plant in Lakeland.  I considered it a privilege to join a company I had always admired.  My first position was lab technician in the Quality Control department.  Now I’m the Research & Development Manager for our three dairy plants.  This is the best job in the company since tasting ice cream is a regular part of my job!

I have a great deal of pride in the products we manufacture because they are the highest quality available to consumers.  We strive to provide a wide variety of healthy and flavorful products for our customers.

There is a great sense of teamwork here.  Publix People are genuinely interested in helping others succeed.  The Publix Management team encourages an open dialogue about ways to improve our work, our Publix products and ourselves.

I am so very proud to be a part of the Publix Family!

What I love most about Publix is that everyone is like one big family. You are surrounded by people who care about you and that listen to your needs.  The Publix family always rallies together in a time of need, whether it’s for a fellow associate or someone in the community.

During the hurricane season in 2004, we helped each other and our neighbors and customers  through some of the most tragic times ever experienced by some of us – whether it was working long hours to see that our stores had the necessary supplies or just volunteering to clean up and repair damage. Publix also set up a relief fund to help hurricane victims, and associates donated food, clothes and shelter to those in need.  For these reasons, I think Publix is a great place to work.
