How to Apply in Stores
Join our store team!So you'd like to work in one of the hourly positions in our stores, but you're not sure what options you have? First, take a look at the Job Description Chart to familiarize yourself with more than 15 different choices. Then check out the Store Locator to determine which Publix you would most like to work at. How to ApplyWhen you've decided which positions interest you and which Publix is the most convenient for you, go to that store and look for the Job Application Center, which is pictured on this page. The JAC, as we call it, is usually located at the front of the store. The JAC is a monitor with a touch-screen system that walks you through the application process. A keyboard is provided to allow you to enter information into the automated application. (Our stores do not accept paper résumés. All store interview and hire decisions are based on applications submitted through the JAC.) The JAC allows you to apply for any entry-level position, not just those at the store where you apply. That's because managers at other Publix stores–where there may be openings in different positions–can view your application. Therefore, you don't need to submit an application at any other Publix. What to Expect The average time to complete an application at the JAC is about 45 minutes, but you'll save time if you've reviewed the Job Description Chart before you apply so you know which positions to select. The first part of the application process, which takes about 20 minutes, asks for contact, education and work experience information. The second part is a short test that takes about 25 minutes. You can take at that time or later in the week. You have 7 days to complete the test. Once you’ve taken the test, you cannot retake it for 6 months, so give it your best shot!If you have any problem with the JAC, you can ask for help at Customer Service located at the front of the store. If you have difficulty reading and writing in English, you can bring someone to help you through the application process. Store managers will not see your application unless you touch the "Submit my application" button on the last screen of the application process, after both sections of the application. If you stop at any time prior to that, your information will not be saved. Your application will be active for 30 days. The last screen on the JAC will provide the expiration date so you can write it down. You will be contacted if managers at any of our stores want to interview you. Please do not call the store to inquire about the status of your application. If you want to know more, ask to speak with a manager the next time you visit the store. Updating your ApplicationIf you haven't been contacted by the time your application expires, you must update your application if you still want to be considered for employment. You can do so at any store, not just the one where you originally applied. You do not need to complete a new application when you want to update your existing one. You merely have to enter your name and Social Security number into the system and it will do the rest of the work for you. Please remember, though, that you must use the exact name and Social Security number you used when you filed your first application. We look forward to seeing your application! |
