Our team of 16 Specialists ensures that Loss Prevention services and advice are provided to managers and associates. They do this by evaluating financial and exception reports as well as operational conditions to identify opportunities to shrink reduction, control of cash losses and general protection of Publix’ assets.  Specialists help stores manage shrink through compliance auditing and by bringing awareness to issues.  They also investigate reports of known or suspected internal theft, vendor fraud, and external theft, including Organized Retail Crime. The Loss Prevention Specialists augment our Corporate efforts to provide protection to associates and customers, as well as the company’s other assets.

Opportunities

We often have openings for Loss Prevention Specialists in our Divisional offices.  Each Specialist is assigned a region of Publix stores for which he or she is responsible.  Compensation is salaried and includes a year-end bonus in December equal to one month’s pay.

Required Qualifications

The required qualifications for this position include:

• Must be at least 20 years of age with a valid driver's license 
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Three years of retail Loss Prevention experience with two years of multi-store Loss Prevention experience
• Three years of successful experience in managing people
• Able and willing to work variable, sometimes unpredictable, and often long hours under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of loss prevention, security and risk management concepts
• Knowledge of retail processes such as cash handling receiving, register transactions, office reconciliation, inventory control and related paperwork
• Knowledge of the criminal justice system including police operations
• Flexibility in dealing with a variety of situations and assignments simultaneously
• Able and willing to travel, including overnight
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent planning and organizational skills
• Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills
• High level of maturity, discretion, tact, judgment and the ability to deal with confidential matters
• Able to work well with others and be an effective team player with a positive attitude
• Obvious enthusiasm, initiative and pride in work

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual (fluent in Spanish)
• Bachelors Degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, business, accounting or related field
• Experience in successfully leading projects to implementation
• Able to conduct investigative interviews
• Certification in Wicklander-Zulawski Interviewing Techniques
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access
• Five years of retail Loss Prevention experience, including investigations, with more than two years of multi-store Loss Prevention experience
• Five years of experience in managing direct reports
