At their peak of flavor and ripeness July through August, Publix selects only tree-ripened, handpicked peaches, providing you with a sweeter and juicier fruit.

Peach Chutney

Peach Chutney

1 tablespoon canola oil
1/2 cup chopped yellow onion
1/4 cup cider vinegar
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup dried cherries (or dried fruit mix)
1 1/2 lb peaches, peeled, pitted, and cut into bite-size pieces (about 3-4)

  1. Preheat medium saucepan on medium 1-2 minutes. Place oil in pan; add onions and cook until soft. Stir in vinegar, sugar, and cherries; bring to a boil.
  2. Reduce to a simmer; cook 3-4 minutes or until a syrup forms. Add peaches; simmer and stir 12-15 minutes or until peaches soften.
  3. Mash peaches slightly with back of spoon (thin with 2 tablespoons water, if needed). Salt and pepper to taste; serve with poultry or grilled meats.

Other Preparation Methods

Bake: Preheat oven to 350F. Halve 2 peaches (remove pits); place cut side up in a 2-quart baking dish. Combine 2 tablespoons each chopped walnuts and brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon apple pie spice, and 1 tablespoon softened unsalted butter; sprinkle over peaches. Bake 20-30 minutes or until peaches are tender. Serve with ice cream.
