Tortellini Bolognaise With Italian Blend Vegetables

  • Tortellini Bolognese With Italian Blend Vegetables

    Tortellini Bolognaise

    Ingredients
    1 tablespoon garlic butter
    one 10-ounce bag frozen seasoning blend
    1 teaspoon roasted garlic
    8 ounces Italian sausage links
    1 pound 93% lean ground beef
    1/4 cup red wine
    1 teaspoon rosemary
    1 teaspoon basil
    1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
    1/8 teaspoon allspice
    2 teaspoons beef base
    one 14-ounce jar pizza sauce
    salt and pepper, to taste
    two 9-ounce packages refrigerated portabello mushroom tortellini


    Steps
    1. Preheat sauté pan on medium high for 2-3 minutes.
    2. Place butter in sauté pan and swirl to coat. Add seasoning blend and garlic. Stir; cover, and sauté for 2 minutes.
    3. Remove cover and sauté for 1 minute.
    4. Remove casing from sausage. To do this, cut off one end of casing and squeeze contents into sauté pan. Slide casing through fingers to remove entire contents. Wash hands.
    5. Add beef to sauté pan. Cover, and cook for 5 minutes; stirring frequently until brown, breaking meat up as it cooks.
    6. Fill saucepan 3/4 full of hot tap water, cover and place on high heat to boil for pasta.
    7. Drain meat mixture and return to sauté pan.
    8. Stir into meat mixture: wine, rosemary, basil, cumin, allspice, beef base, pizza sauce, salt and pepper. Stir, cover and reduce heat to low. Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
    9. Check pasta water for boil. When boiling, remove lid and add pasta; cook for 5 minutes.
    10. Drain pasta and serve with sauce.

    Italian Blend Vegetables

    Ingredients
    one 16-ounce bag frozen Italian blend vegetables
    1 tablespoon garlic butter
    1 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt


    Steps
    1. Place vegetables in microwave-safe bowl; cover, and microwave on high for 5 minutes.
    2. Drain water from vegetables.
    3. Add butter and seasoned salt.
    4. Stir, cover and microwave on high for 5 minutes. Serve.
