Sweet Chili Barbecue Steaks With Glazed Green Beans and Turnips

Sweet Chili Barbecue Steaks

3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
3 green onions, finely chopped
3 tablespoons oyster sauce
2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
1 1/2 lb grilling steaks (such as NY strip, ribeye, or tenderloin)
2 tablespoons canola oil
1/2 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
1 tablespoon sesame seeds

  • Preheat grill pan (or grill).
  • Chop garlic and green onions.
  1. Combine oyster sauce, chili sauce, and garlic until blended; set aside.
  2. Coat both sides of steak with oil and sprinkle with pepper. Place steaks in grill pan (or on grill); grill 2–3 minutes on each side or until browned.
  3. Top steaks with one-half of the chili sauce mixture; cover and grill 1–2 minutes or until topping is warm and steaks are 145°F (for medium-rare).
  4. Remove steaks from heat; let stand 5–10 minutes. Slice steak; top with remaining one-half  of the sauce, green onions, and sesame seeds. Serve.

Glazed Green Beans and Turnips

2 medium turnip roots
4 green onions
1 (12-oz) bag fresh trimmed green beans
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup rice vinegar
3 tablespoons sweet chili sauce

  • Peel turnips; cut turnips into thin strips.
  • Cut green onions into 2-inch-long pieces.
  1. Preheat large sauté pan on medium-high 2–3 minutes. Place green beans, turnips, green onions, and water in pan, then cover; cook and stir 3–4 minutes or until crisp-tender.
  2. Combine vinegar and chili sauce, then stir into green bean mixture; cook and stir 2–3 minutes or until vegetables are evenly glazed. Serve.
