Steamed Crab Legs

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon fresh basil
  • 1 lemon, for zest/juice
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter
  • 2 lb crab legs

Steps

    1. Chop basil leaves finely. Zest lemon (½ teaspoon), then juice (1 tablespoon). Melt butter; stir in basil, lemon zest, and lemon juice.
    2. Place crab legs in steamer basket, bending legs at joints if needed to fit, then place basket in stockpot. Add water to pot to just below basket.
    3. Bring to a boil, then cover and steam 5–6 minutes until meat is firm and 145°F. Twist legs at joints or split shell using kitchen shears. Peel back shell and remove meat. Serve with butter sauce.
