Q: Do you have a toll-free Consumer Relations phone number?
A: Yes, we have a toll-free number for store-related comments, 800-242-1227. Questions relating to personnel, payroll, benefits, stock, employment, real estate, or accounting are better directed through our corporate switchboard at 863-688-1188.

Our Consumer Relations department is open 8 am to 5:30 pm (Eastern time), Monday through Friday. We are closed Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. You may also send us an e-mail or letter.

Q: How do I address a consumer issue in my store?
A: For the quickest resolution of your problem, check at the Customer Service Desk for your store manager or the manager on duty at the time of the issue. If the store manager is unable to help you, you may contact Publix Consumer Relations via e-mail. You may also call or write us. Please include as much detail as possible, along with your store location.

Q: How do I report damage to my vehicle while shopping at Publix?
A: Please report the damage to the store manager at the location where the incident occurred. He or she will refer this matter to the proper Publix department.

Q: What is the Publix guarantee?
A: The philosophy of pleasing our customers was established from the beginning by our founder, George W. Jenkins. The purpose of his guarantee remains to satisfy the customer: "We will never knowingly disappoint you. If for any reason your purchase does not give you complete satisfaction, the full purchase price will be cheerfully refunded immediately upon request."

Q: What happens if a product scans incorrectly during checkout?
A: Our Publix checkout promise guarantees that if during checkout, the scanned price of an item (excluding alcohol and tobacco products) exceeds the shelf price or advertised price, we will give the customer one of that item free. The remaining items will be charged at the lower price.

Q: What is your policy on carryout service?
A: We pride ourselves in providing outstanding customer service. That service includes taking your groceries to your vehicle.

Q: What types of payment does Publix accept?
A: Publix gladly accepts cash, checks with proper identification, debit cards and five types of credit cards. These include American Express, Visa, MasterCard, Revolution Money, and Discover Network. We also participate in the WIC program and the Electronic Benefits Transfer program.

Q: Are there any restrictions for cashing a check at Publix?
A: In order to cash a check at Publix, you need to provide a driver's license, a state-issued photo identification card or military identification.

Q: Does Publix cash payroll checks?
A: Yes, check your local store for specific policy. We charge a fee for this service and require a finger signature.

Q: Does Publix sell and accept money orders?
A: Publix sells, but does not cash, money orders at all stores.

Q: How can I purchase a Publix gift card?
A: There are several ways. You may purchase a gift card for any occasion in an amount up to $500 at the Customer Service Desk in any of our stores using cash, check, debit or credit card. Or, submit your order online at our gift card web site. If you prefer, call 800-830-8159 and pay with a regular check, cashier's check or a credit card.

 

Q: Can I enroll in the Publix Baby Club or change my address for the Club online?
A: Yes, you may enroll, discontinue your membership or update your address anytime at the Publix Baby Club section of Publix.com.  

Q: How does Publix determine where new stores will be built?
A: Store sites are based on several factors including population, demographics, location and competition.

Q: How often is a store remodeled?
A: All stores are evaluated every five years. During the evaluation, the scope of the remodel is determined. Other decisions may include replacing the store, expanding it or, in some cases, closing the store.

Q: How do I join the Upromise college savings program?
A: You can pick up your Publix Upromise key tag from a cashier at any Publix store, register your key tag by using the "Click here to Register" button on this page and then visit your local Publix and purchase eligible Upromise products identified by Upromise tags and signs. At checkout, present your registered Publix Upromise key tag to the cashier prior to your order being tendered and your savings will be automatically added to your Upromise account.   It may take up to 14 days for your credit to appear on your account.  Be sure to check your account often to see your savings grow.

Q: What do I do if I lose my Upromise key tag or if it wears out?
A:  Pick up a new Upromise key tag from your local Publix from any cashier.  Once you have your new key tag, log on to your Upromise account and select "My Account."  Then, select "Add Grocery Cards".  Once you see all active grocery cards listed, you want to select "Remove" next to the Publix Upromise key tag number that you are no longer going to use due to it being lost or damaged.  The final step is to enter your new Upromise key tag number (twice) for your new tag to become effective. 

Q: What types of grocery bags does Publix offer?
A: Publix offers paper and plastic bags as well as reusable "green" bags for bagging groceries. The affordable and recyclable "green" bags are made of non-woven polypropylene (plastic) which looks like canvas. We also have sold reusable canvas bags at Publix store locations for many years. Customers are encouraged to bring in their own bags for Publix to bag their groceries. If you have extra bags at home that you do not plan to use, we offer recycling bins for paper and plastic bags at many of our store locations.

Q: What do I do if I can't find the "green bags?"
A: We apologize for any difficulty you might have in finding a "green bag." These were recently introduced, and they have proven to be very popular. We are ordering more, and we suggest you let your store manager know that you would like one. We are pleased that they have been well received.
